If you’re going to tackle a problem, you first need to understand the scale of it. That’s what we’ve tried to do with our YouGov survey for Deconstruction, and what I spoke about at length with Paul Heming in the latest ‘Own the Build’ podcast. We covered a lot of ground, including: - How the laws of marketing apply to construction (as much as anywhere else) - What the sector does well, and less well, in the battle for talent - The impact of construction’s negative image within mainstream media - Why brand should be the prime focus of the sector as it moves to a period of growth And a LOT more besides - I’m not sure Paul or I drew breath over the course of the recording... The response to our latest survey has been overwhelming, and I’m hoping you’ll pick up on some additional themes within this conversation that I’d love your feedback on. On a personal level, I’ve been a listener of ‘Own the Build’ for a while, so it’s a genuine thrill to be invited to do this - if a little daunting - to thanks again, Paul. #OwnTheBuild #ConstructionMarketing #ConstructionSkillsGap

🤔 How do QSs Plan Effectively without inviting Chaos? 🤔 In this Own the Build podcast clip, Paul Heming asks Christopher Barber for his take on this challenge. Chris shares a tried-and-true method that focuses on building in time for the unexpected. 📋 Chris’s Approach: ➡️ Plan for Tendering and Negotiation: Allow 4 weeks for tender preparation, 2 weeks for negotiations, and another buffer for unforeseen delays. ➡️ Account for Human Factors: Consider external variables like holidays or other commitments that could slow down responses. ➡️ Proactive Problem-Solving: Give yourself time to react and address issues as they arise, instead of scrambling to meet deadlines under pressure. By embedding flexibility into the process, you not only avoid being overwhelmed but also ensure better project outcomes. 🎧 Catch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/e3qnD7Gt #construction #constructionpodcast #projectmanagement #quantitysurveyor #ProvisionalSum
