Hello, friends, followers and strangers!
I often watch videos related to industry and construction on YouTube (of course I refer to videos where everything takes place properly, especially during this time of day, I do not want to sleep with nightmares, I am not insane)!
However, when this 1999 video which ends in total destruction was suggested for watching, I immediately shared it here with you.
3 people died.
Do you know why?
Because they were ordered to proceed with a heavy load lift despite the dangerously fast wind speed in the direction of the crane skew (for reference, watch the white flag on top of the stadium in 0:42 of the video).
Two of the operators initially objected but the construction company was adamant in following the schedule without even the smallest delay.
Of course, the money lost was much more than the money saved by working with the tallest crane model in the world then during the most windy day of the 1999 summer in Milwaukee, WI...
If you work or will later in your life find yourself working as a safety officer in potentially dangerous facilities, please always keep these in mind:
◭ Not even all the money in the world equals one human life.
◭ Work should be disciplined joy, not rushed uncertainty. We should work to make our world a little bit better and help humanity progress one step further. Work without larger than life goals is for robots, not for humans.
◭ We do not need the last penny that could be saved by finishing on time or a few days earlier. We hail from the same universe, we gaze into the same sunset, we return to the same Earth.
◭ Most of all, work must be all about creating happy memories for when we will have retired. NOT making US ourselves happy faded memories...
Remember: in a construction or in an industrial facility everyone could be in danger! Watch out for everything, do not take anything for granted!
