The construction industry is facing exciting challenges – and even greater opportunities. As one of the most important levers for a successful climate transition, we can set the course for a sustainable future together. This can be achieved by developing innovative ideas and focusing on digital technologies. This is what makes the industry so special: its ability to actively shape change. 🌱 On 27 November, FORUM:BAU offers the perfect opportunity to gather fresh ideas for the future of construction. Experts from business, research, and politics will meet to discuss sustainable construction methods and innovative approaches. 🏗️ Even though we will not be there in person, the topics addressed at the event are central to our work. Through our measures, we are taking concrete steps to make the construction industry more climate-friendly and to promote sustainable solutions. 💡 🌿 We do everything we can to minimise our ecological footprint: We only use green electricity, focus on short and low-emission delivery routes, promote the recycling of our products and support sustainable mobility and renewable energies - both within the company and among our employees. 🌍 ♻️ You can find out more about our contribution to sustainability here 👇 https://lnkd.in/e7dBaUbH KrampeHarex Know Why. #KrampeHarex #Sustainability #FutureOfConstruction

Excellent panel on the contribution of geosynthetics to reduce carbon emissions for building infrastructures! Thank you John Kraus FRSA FICRS, PIETRO RIMOLDI, Maria Patricia Guerra Escobar, Stephan Fourmont, René Laprade for excellent contributions! The audience agrees that geosynthetics will typically deliver better performance, cost savings, reduce wearing of existing infrastructures and consumption of gravel. Essentially everybody agrees on the tremendous savings offered by geosynthetics, with carbon savings ranging from 25 to 90% depending on projects. Innovative policies favoring low carbon technologies have already appeared in the UK, good news for our industry! Lots of discussions in the session were related to end of life management of geosynthetics in infrastructures, potential recycling or reuse opportunities of some products (including gravel). One of our goals, as an industry, shoud be to lobby policymakers to include embodied carbon in the evaluation criteria for awarding projects. In the meantime, the IGS is ready to support the industry generate carbon analysis thanks to the carbon calculator, which is available online at https://lnkd.in/gway4ZDa for IGS members!

We are pleased to announce our most recent piece of research commissioned by Essex County Council to carry out an Embodied Carbon Evidence Base for planning policy. This study aids Essex Authorities form a consistent planning policy position on embodied carbon in their local plans. Our sustainability team collaborated with Etude, Hawkins\Brown, Introba UK and Currie & Brown to deliver this unique study. The study includes in-depth upfront and life cycle modelling with capital costing of low-rise housing typologies using different construction techniques. It also serves as an embodied carbon explainer and investigates likely variation in upfront embodied carbon between data sources and material types. You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eGGjk4NU Ambitious Essex Clare Murray, Rania Kapitani, Belen Alemany #emdodiedcarbon #upfrontembodiedcarbon #lifecyclecarbon #netzero #sustainability
