Life Advice for The Next Generation "Right now there are wars raging on nearly every continent. It’s almost as if the adults are doing everything they can to break this world before you inherit it. The only solution I see is to grow the compassion and empathy you need to pick up the broken pieces. Look to the kindness that we show the displaced, the refugees. Let that kindness define the new world you can build. Advice number one: Accept your human imperfections Advice number two: Find your own path Advice number three: Travel. And now my final piece of advice: Look up: Put the phone down and look up. Because the world is a beautiful place and you don’t want to let it pass you by. Now it’s not going to be easy. But make sure you go out there and live life with all of its beauty and imperfections. Meet new people. Eat amazing food you’ve never even heard of before. Get your heart broken. Break someone else’s heart. And then do better next time."

Our guests: Jana Dorsey Jacqueline Y Pelzer and Bobby Edwards share the transformative history and impact of POCC, its role in fostering safe spaces for BIPOC educators, and why this conference remains a cornerstone for equity in education. One (of the many) ways ⬇️ Share your stories. Use social media, blogs, conferences, and other platforms to share your experiences, challenges, and successes as an early childhood professional. Personal stories humanize the importance of your work and can inspire others to support and join the cause. Sharing your experiences and insights helps raise awareness about the critical role of early childhood educators and advocates for the resources and support needed to ensure the success of the profession. In our most recent blog post, written by DCAEYC's Berna Artis, we share dozens of other ways early childhood educators can have their voices heard! “Today’s episode focuses on a policy document called “Project 2025,” a far-right roadmap for education that proposes significant changes to public education in the United States. Dr. Jaime Hoerricks, a special education teacher, critically analyses the document’s proposals, highlighting their potential negative impact on students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The author argues that “Project 2025” aims to dismantle federal oversight and funding for public education, promoting privatisation, and reducing support for students with disabilities, English learners, and low-income families. Dr. Hoerricks ultimately views these proposals as a threat to equity and inclusion in education, arguing that they benefit the privileged few at the expense of the many.” It’s strange how NotebookLM says “Title eye” instead of “Title one.” Here’s the link to the source article: https://lnkd.in/giqQdAqu Let me know what you think.
