Subject: Takeaways from the Harris Town Hall Last Night I agree with the summary of last night. However, not with the ending comment, “how far she still has to go to tell voters who she is.” I think that we have had plenty of time to determine who she is based on her statements and statements by associates who she has worked with, known for years and who she has associated with. Plus, by telling us who she is not! She is a democratic progressive, not a Republican elitist, racist, fascist and fear monger. To many of us, the decision in this election is clear. Do we want to continue as a representative republic that practices or tries to practice or improve our democracy, or do we want to travel to a different, authoritarian system that appears to like strong man dictators with billionaire oligarchs like Russia, or worse Hitler’s Germany? The video in this was fascinating about the 14 keys to projecting Presidential electoral success.

Yes, it should be, but given too many examples of journalists having abandoned trading journalistic principles for reasons we all can speculate about, this issue is at the heart of this election. Trump and his supporters have steadily lied about voter fraud and "stolen" elections without any evidence, and all the litigation over 2020 state results revealed the lies had no evidence. The lies are about destroying the public belief in fair elections so that actual election results can be denied and overturned. Trump's orchestration and support of January 6th violence and effort to prevent the long-standing peaceful transference of power and continuation of the democratic process, together with his ongoing threats to imprison political opponents, is more than enough to disqualify him from holding any political office--certainly not the presidency. Strong debate and differences on public policies are part of the tradition of American politics and democracy. Denying results of elections with no evidence, threatening authoritarian prosecution and vengeance, are not. Has not been--until Trump. This is the fundamental issue of this election.
