Delighted to have been speaking to Roger Hearing of the BBC about my book How Should a Government Be? We talked about innovation and efficiency in government, e-governance in Estonia and India, digital IDs and social security, and what the US government could learn from all this. This was part of a programme about Donald Trump's appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). You can listen to the conversation here: from 1:30 to 7:20 minutes. Do listen, like and share. Awesome interview, Jaideep! Loved how you brought up digital identity and the examples from Estonia and India—really sharp points. But I couldn’t help thinking about the challenges of rolling this out, especially in places like the US, where the libertarian streak and distrust of government on both the far right and left could really complicate things. Curious to hear your take—how do you think governments can tackle those kinds of roadblocks?
