During the holiday season, it is easy to fall into the habit of quantity over quality because we want our loved ones to feel overwhelmed by our affection and appreciation. With the 2024 Gift Guide, Rooted Sonshine is here to practice what we preach and also preach (a little louder) what we preach all year long ;) https://lnkd.in/g3TPHDNq

The holidays are a time for giving - embrace the magic of the season and discover the deeper joy of giving back. Here are some thoughtful ways to share the spirit of giving: • Give the gift of time. Spend quality moments with loved ones or volunteer in your community. • Create something special. A handmade gift often means more than something store-bought. • Help with an unwanted chore. Offer to lend a hand with tasks like grocery shopping or organizing. • Make a selfless gesture. Do something kind without expecting recognition, like shoveling a neighbor’s sidewalk. • Pay it forward. Surprise someone with a random act of kindness. • Brighten someone’s day. A simple smile or kind words can go a long way. Let’s make this season a little brighter by spreading joy through the act of giving! #holidaygifts #gifting #holidayseason #taxprofessionals #taxadvisor #accountingfirm #accounting

If you are involved in the Employee Assistance Program world, please Take a Pique. This is an excellent description of the “High Performers” in organizations in which you provide EAP Services. Think about how to provide “High Performers” with a specialized level of service within the Organizational EAP Services. I also believe it will “totally resonate with them.”

Do you have a hard time letting someone do something for you? Last night, after being away from home for two days, I was treated to one of the best dinners my husband has ever made. Partly because it was my favorite. But mostly, because I knew that he had to go out of his way to make this dinner. He had to drive to the grocery store. He had to pick up the ingredients. And he had to have some kind of a recipe to make it. Then he had to put the whole thing together. But most importantly, I knew that all of that meant he had been thinking about me before I ever got home. It got me thinking that I work with a lot of high performers. In fact, I’m one myself, so I totally resonate with them. And what I do is I help them enjoy the lives that they have worked so hard to build. What I know about high performers is that we often have a really hard time receiving help and care from other people. We are the doers. And it can feel really hard to receive those gifts. What I was reminded of while I was eating my delicious meatloaf is that life is a lot easier when we allow other people to care for us. Not only that, but I also got to check something off my to-do list. After a two-hour drive home, I didn’t have to make dinner! And as I thought more about this, I thought about the gift that comes with being the receiver. Letting someone care for you. Not the fact that I was given a delicious meal, but that in receiving, we allow others the opportunity to give. By allowing myself to graciously receive his gifts I was actually giving him something back as well. Now I just have to think about how I am going to show my appreciation for my dear husband. Have you ever noticed that it’s hard for you to receive? And have you ever thought about the gift you’re giving by allowing yourself to receive help from others?

I always love this time of year 🎄 🎅 ✝️ How about you? Does this time of year get you excited - or get you stressed out? I submit to you - it is all proper perspective. Over commercialism aside... Networking parties, gift giving, year end quotas and last minute rush deals may seem like something you have to do or "get through" - if you think the world "happens to" you. I personally think the Christmas/Holiday aspect gives me a built in "excuse" to check in with all my clients. Aside from just issuing general well-wishes, I need to verify addresses for cards, close out any existing billing and check-in on any year-end emergencies my #Clients may need help with. This year, I have an even different appreciation for the Season as my life has changed exponentially in the last 18 months - and #God has played a large and amazing part. My efforts during this "check-in" season have already resulted in a slew of "lunch and learns" with places like Shea Commercial Properties, Inc., Meritage Homes and Toll Brothers. (Thank you Richard Rutecki, Peter H. Kim, PE, QSD and Johanna Crooker, AICP) (Of course, I only remembered to take the one picture. We are working on that part.) This was perfect given all that has changed with me - and the general changes to the landscape of #DueDiligence and the impacts of #PFAS. I was also reminded how much I love giving presentations.... If you think the world "happens FOR" you - you see this Christmas season as the blessing - and opportunity for growth and rebirth - it truly represents. Give FQF Advisors Inc. a call - and breath easy this Holiday season while we help you navigate year end - and maybe change your perspective! #DueDiligence #Networking #MerryChristmas #GodisGood

THE INTENTIONALITY OF GIFT-GIVING 🤗 Gift-giving is a thoughtful act that conveys emotions, builds relationships, and creates memories. 😊🥰💝👬 and we are approaching that season 🎄 But many times, we still miss the ability to convey the above effectively. 😪😔 Sometime back, a good friend got me a gift; it was food! I like good food 😋 😌 emphasis on GOOD 👍 But! everything went wrong. The vendors were an outlet I didn't like because of their poor output and their delivery was hours late. So the order was placed 11am to be delivered by 3pm but i got it by almost 6 pm. 🫠😵💫☹️ Eventually........ You guessed right ✅️ 😏 Have you been there before? 🤔 You received a gift you didn't like and couldn't really use or didn't enjoy it? 😔 And have you also, at some point, given a gift that was not so appreciated because of some factors? Here are some clues to aid your gift-giving this season: 📌 What is the person's interests? 🥳 You're not about to offer a swimming trunk to someone who loves movies 🤩 📌 What are their preferences? Consider colors, 👚👕👗 brands, experience, etc I had a colleague who breathes and sings brands. If it is not branded, she is not wearing it. So, guess what happens to the gifts she receives that are not branded? 😫 📌 What is their personality? Some personality types are easier to please than others. 📌 What are their needs at the time? Sometimes, the easiest way to make an impression with a gift is to meet a need. 📌 What is your recipient's values? Oh, yes! Did you just buy a bum-short for a church girl (before the year 2000) 🤣 - you get the message, don't you? And now... Let the comments roll in 🥁 🥁 🥁 - what has your experience been with gifts? - Which of these points got to you the most? - Are there other ideas you'd love to share? #Intentional_Gifting #Thoughtful_Giving #Gift_Season

Sometimes, I read articles like this and I wonder WHO TF are the people they are writing about? I mean, I feel like I may have observed this behavior outlined as "gift giving don'ts" at some point, but I have quickly excised those people from my life. There are few more uncomfortable experiences than receiving a gift and feeling immediately compelled to "perform" in a certain way to satisfy the giver. If you have a gift to share with me and your joy in giving is contingent on my reaction to that gift, just don't do it. I'll save you the time and money right now because I will 💯 disappoint you. Those who know me well know that the BEST gifts, those that bring forth feelings of deep gratitude that I can call on throughout the year when I feel alone or that nobody "gets me," are the small, heartfelt tokens that cost next-to-nothing, but somehow express that the item truly promoted you to think of me in the moment you saw it. And absolutely do not make it occasion-based. I've never been comfortable with these scheduled displays of consumerism tied to the calendar; they ultimately feel arbitrary and impersonal. It also cannot be said enough that these suggestions will make your holidays more inclusive for autistic friends and family members. Giving is not a competition, but too many people think of it as such. If your goal is to "win" Christmas by putting your ostentatious displays of generosity front and center, I can assure you, many people you already know will be more impressed if you follow these guidelines. You can win Christmas by exercising restraint and empathy, and save your pocketbook at the same time. Umbrella US #TheWeirdOnes https://wapo.st/3OSpq1j

In 2016, I took part in my school’s farewell felicitation ceremony for our seniors. It was a special day, not just because of the event, but because of something small I learned that stayed with me. I was helping with the decorations and had the responsibility of wrapping gifts for our seniors. That day, someone showed me how to tie a beautiful ribbon knot on a gift box, and it fascinated me. The precision, the neatness. It was the final touch that made the gift feel more special. From that moment on, I started adding ribbons to every gift I gave, paying attention to every fold and knot, as if it were an art form. Exactly three years from today, when my sister and I received our first lot of gifting orders. It was just the two of us handling everything, and I found myself tying ribbons on gifts once again, only this time, on a much larger scale. I remember tying ribbons on 500 gifts in a day, well that was a big record for me and after that guiding my whole team to that. The art of ribbon-tying that I had learned as a simple skill in school had become a key part of my business. Looking back, I see how that small detail from my school farewell became an integral part of my journey in the gifting world. It’s funny how certain moments stick with you, shaping not just your memories, but also your future. So in short, ribbon might seem like a small addition, but its impact is significant. It transforms a gift from something ordinary into something extraordinary. It tells the recipient that they are valued and appreciated, and it enhances the entire experience of gifting. Whether you’re giving a gift to a loved one or a business partner, the ribbon you tie around it adds a layer of thoughtfulness and care that goes beyond the gift itself #Giftsthatmatter #Thoughtfulgifting #Memorablegifts #Giftforclients #Corporategifting #Eventgifting #Mystory #Giftstory #Realstories

'Tis the season for toast giving! 🥂 I've been participating in a local WomanSpeak™ circle hosted by Jen Oliver and we've been practicing the skill of giving a toast just in time for the holidays. If you are like me, giving a toast has never felt like a wonderful opportunity but a slightly terrifying endeavor. Jen gave me the gift of giving an artful toast and I'd like to pass this gift on to you (or at least the framework for giving one!). 🎁 So here it goes, toast giving in four easy to follow steps that will make giving this year's toast a breeze! 1. Start with acknowledging why you are here (are you celebrating someone's birthday?, are you toasting the host at your NYE party? ...) 2. Share a specific quality about the person or persons you're toasting (something you admire, something that stands out to you…) 3. Share a story or two that highlights that quality (this can be funny, draw emotions, ...) 4. Invite everyone in to share in the final toast (“join me”, “let's all raise a glass” …) "Giving a toast is more than just raising a glass. It is a way to honor someone, it is a gift, and it can be a powerful use of your voice." - Jen Oliver Join me in giving a toast this year! 🥂
