Another brilliant document created by The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) which highlights the importance of the role that the client undertakes in any project. It offers advice on how to get it right whilst producing the most positive impacts for all stakeholders involved. I am lucky enough to have experience of working both as a contractor, and now client side, delivering projects and because of this I understand the gravitas of the decisions that the client makes in any project from it’s inception, all the way through its delivery and beyond. There can be massive social and environmental benefits to planning a project correctly but the client has a massive part to play in this. I have been fortunate enough to work with people who have shared values in delivering projects who not only want the best for their building but also for the surrounding communities and larger environment. These have always been the most rewarding projects for me. There is also lot more to deciding on a project team than just the cheapest cost or the ‘race to the bottom’. As a client you need to surround yourself with a team with a shared ethos, similar standards and common goals so that the project can be successful for all parties. A project team should be chosen for the VALUE that they bring. #CIOB #value
