The term circularity is growing in importance in 2024. The NLCRC defines circularity as a product, service, or resource that is renewed or regenerated rather than wasted. In a circular economy, when a product or resource is used, it's then recycled, composted, or re-used in a way that allows it to go back into a new lifecycle or supply chain. It's a closed-loop usage model rather than one that produces discarded waste. This is important to note as the NLCRC embraces our role in accelerating the achievement of packaging recycling solutions for our industry that drive circularity. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zNTT87

If we’re going to reach net zero by 2050, we all need to play our part – and that includes the small things like recycling. Today marks Global Recycling Day, a day which recognises the important role recycling plays not only in protecting our natural resources but also in reducing our carbon emissions. Earlier this year, an audit of the waste from our Hugh Cubitt office in Kings Cross found that 87 percent of our general waste could have been recycled. This is not good enough. So we’re working with our facilities team to improve how we deal with our waste. We’re labelling bin bags, introducing new food waste bins and training colleagues. They’re small changes, but ones that can help make a big difference. Like with all our sustainability actions, we’re making choices today for a better tomorrow. #RecyclingHeroes Find out more: https://bit.ly/2OaHCmR

Happy Global Recycling Day! 🌍♻️ Today, we celebrate the incredible power of recycling to protect our planet, reduce waste, and conserve natural resources. As we join hands in making recycling a priority, it's crucial to remember that the narrative around pollution is complex and multifaceted. While plastics often find themselves in the spotlight as major pollutants, it's essential to recognize that the challenge of pollution extends beyond just one material type. Every material - paper, glass, metals - contributes to our environmental footprint and demands our attention for effective recycling and waste management. True environmental progress requires addressing the entire spectrum of waste we generate. Perhaps even more important is the role we, as end consumers, play in this process. It might seem like our little efforts don’t make a difference, but when we all to our bit, it adds up to a big change. Teaching our kids how to care for the Earth is important. They’re the future, after all. The road to a greener planet starts with us. By leading by example, we pave the way for a greener future and inspire those around us to follow. Let's use Global Recycling Day as a reminder to broaden our perspective on sustainability. It's about making informed choices, advocating for comprehensive recycling programs, and supporting innovations that contribute to a circular economy. Here's to making every action count and building a more sustainable world for future generations. Together we can make a difference. 💚

It’s no surprise that recycling is our jam! Naturally, Recycling Week (Nov 11-17) is one we’re excited to celebrate. As we reflect on the 70,000+ tonnes of waste we’ve recycled this year alone, we’re proud of our efforts and innovations. ♻️ We’re dedicated to pushing the boundaries of recycling, proving that sweating the small stuff really does pay off. As Waste Management Review puts it: “Mainstream by name, but certainly not by nature.” We’re always prepared to look beyond the conventional to find sustainable solutions for waste. Contributing to the circular economy is key for us — bringing recovered materials back into construction and manufacturing whenever we can. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about making a real difference for the planet. Every ton of waste we recycle helps conserve resources, reduce our environmental footprint, and preserve the planet for future generations. 🌍 As a proud member of the Zero Litter to Ocean Committee, we’re also doing our part to keep less waste out of our oceans. Thank you to everyone who’s doing their part — together, we’re making a big impact! #RecyclingWeek #ZeroLitterToOcean #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #RecyclingMatters #OceanConservation
