Two days ago I had the joyful experience of watching one of my favorite colleagues own the room he was in. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Dr. Kareem Muhammad was in his element: confident, funny, potty-mouthed, and nattily dressed. His new book is a smart, and smart-assed, CTA for voters this election season. What’s the purpose of voting? It’s not to *choose* a candidate. It’s not to vote *against* a candidate. Voting is the ultimate act of purpose, Kareem tells us. Understand your self-interest and vote for it. Vote for yourself. Election season is a terrific time to act with purpose.

Learn about the people you're voting for. Don't half 🍑 it. Here's a notion doc that outlines every office up for election in my district: https://lnkd.in/gbGY5tCC I intentionally left out the party affiliation. If you care that much, I think you're doing it wrong. But that's on you. Not in my area? Steal my prompt (in the notes), plug it into Perplexity.ai, and make your own list. Not sure when/where to vote? Use https://lnkd.in/gZr4ueEV to find out.

Democracy is the backbone of any free society, and protecting it should always be a priority. Irrespective of political beliefs, it's essential to support leaders who respect democratic norms and uphold the rule of law. Leadership is not just about policy—it's about character and values. Trump’s actions and rhetoric, as you've pointed out, raise concerns about his respect for democratic institutions and the safety of citizens. It's crucial that we engage in conversations about leadership based on integrity and commitment to democratic principles, rather than personal gains or partisanship. Voting is a powerful tool. It’s the best way to ensure that our voices are heard in shaping the future. Are we, as citizens, truly holding our leaders accountable for their actions? How do we balance freedom and security in times of political uncertainty? #DemocracyMatters #VoteForChange #PoliticalAccountability
This is the one and only time I'm going to post about the 2024 USA Presidential Election. If you already voted, or aren't a US citizen, keep scrolling. -- This one's important, folks. Regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, I think we have common ground: we prefer to live in a democratic system rather than an authoritarian one. Trump's own words and actions, time and time again, have shown that he prefers the latter. To me, that takes priority over debating any specific policy or campaign promise. We must NOT put this man in the White House again. To do so puts everyone's freedoms and safety at risk, and that includes conservatives as well. Nearly half of Donald Trump’s cabinet have refused to endorse him. When Trump learned during the Capitol riot that his supporters were threatening to kill his own vice president, he said ‘so what?’ and refused to do anything to assure the vice president was safe. Republican governors, senators, and House members have all said the same thing: We can’t give Trump another four years as president. If you haven't voted yet, *please* do so today. Find instructions for your state at https://vote.gov. Thanks for reading. 🦅

Thursday Thoughts | Choices "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." These lyrics from the song "Freewill" by Rush speak to a lot of different scenarios. Today, I want to consider them in the context of the next U.S. general election. Please get out and vote. ✅ As election cycles come and go, we have more and more access that makes it easier to cast your ballot. Please don't let busyness be your excuse. There are early voting options (including Saturday in many places) and there are absentee options (I believe Oct 31st is the deadline to request mail-in ballots). Of course, there is always Election Day voting. 👍 Life is full of choices. We make them multiple times each day. Please make an intentional and conscious choice to exercise this important civic duty. Vote. Create your life. 🍨 #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #personalimprovement #createyourlife #bestisyettocome ✅ Ring my 🔔 for notifications of new posts. ✅ Review my previous #ThursdayThoughts (https://bit.ly/thu-tht).

I never blog about politics (you probably hear enough from other sources) so I’m not going to start. But I am going to say a word about voting. We’ve reached the point where the airwaves are saturated with political ads. Why? I think I know. I looked into the last two US Senate runoffs in Georgia. They involved only two candidates each time, so no other race was bringing people to the polls. The first runoff in 2020 generated nearly 4.5 million total votes. The second runoff race in 2022 generated 3.5 million votes. I know 2022 was a mid-term election, but nearly 1 million fewer voters! Really? There were more than 7.8 million registered Georgia voters that year. I think they’re shoving those ads down our throats trying to yell loud enough to reach those 3 million people who are registered but not inspired to actually vote. Those ads might be having the same effect as that old wireless phone commercial that ran, and ran, and ran. I was so sick of it - I wouldn’t consider buying their product. Please don’t do that with your vote. It’s your right and your responsibility. #VotingMatters #VoterAwareness #YourVoteCounts #deepthoughts
