The Sherwood Queenstown, a 78-room boutique hotel, has been sold. A unique hotel and hospitality destination, the Sherwood features an award-winning restaurant and bar with a curated showcase of entertainment and events. RF Corval have acquired the hotel and plan to refurbish the property, and it will be operated by EVT under the Sherwood brand as part of its independent collection of hotels and resorts. This deal was brokered by Steven McIsaac from our Queenstown office alongside Australian-based Hotels experts Haoran (Jackie) Su and Karen Wales. Where’s the New York City Hotel Market? Apparently showing ongoing signs of recovery… 1 Hotel Central Park sold yesterday for just above $1 million per key. According to New York City sales records from 2023 and 2024, upper-end hotels (Mondrian, The William Vale, and 1 Hotel Central Park) are trading between $800K and $1 million per room. Mid-market properties (like Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, and Doubletree) ranged from $400K to $600K per room. Distressed sales (the Roger Smith, Row NYC) were around $200K per key. Marriott International has announced plans to open its first hotel in Darwin. The Courtyard by Marriott Darwin will rebrand the existing Smith Hotel and is scheduled to open in February 2025, following the first phase of renovations. The final phase is expected to be completed in 2027. The rebranded Courtyard by Marriott will feature 186 guest rooms, an outdoor pool, rooftop gym and a signature restaurant. Ontario-based Vrancor Group has acquired the 232-room Radisson Hotel & Suites in Niagara Falls with plans to undertake a comprehensive renovation and relaunch. The property is now closed but is expected to reopen under the IHG Hotels and Resorts voco brand, reported Canadian Facility Management & Design. "The hotel sits on a large site near Horseshoe Falls, the Niagara Falls Convention Centre, Fallsview Casino and the Skylon Tower, and also accommodates two restaurants in leased space.
