Offshore wind is a true UK success story – facilitating our #GreenEnergy transition, improving energy security, and powering our economy. Our upcoming leasing round for floating offshore windfarms in the #CelticSea marks a new era for the sector and creates new opportunities onshore. We need new supply chain expertise and infrastructure such as ports and vessels to handle these giant turbines, and cables to moor them and transport the electricity back to shore.   The projected benefits to the nation are significant – boosting our economy by £1.4bn and creating 5,300 jobs from the construction of the first three windfarms alone. To make the most of the industrial opportunity, action is needed now. Building on research published today, we’re working with industry, governments, trade bodies and communities to create an action plan to ensure the success not just of the Celtic Sea, but of #FloatingWind, and, as part of the wider UK industrial growth opportunity, help to build on our world-leading position in #OffshoreWind.
