I couldn't agree more with this fantastic post by an The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. brand - DECIEM | THE ABNORMAL BEAUTY COMPANY. As a human and mother, I say enjoy your youthful skin and strong barriers...don't mess that up! But, as a bonafide #generational expert (I've studied generational cohorts for 15 years and was one of, if not THE, first demographer to speak about #genz in national media way back in 2012), I have to say, I'm already so over the hysteria around #genalpha in the #beautyindustry. The think pieces and podcasts and hand-wringing (aka strategy building) about 9-year-olds taking over #sephora needs to stop. Here's why: 1. Timing - It was the holidays. They were making wish lists and then they were going to spend the gift cards they received. Look in May...highly doubt you'll be overrun by a pack of tweens then. 2. Beauty & Hobbyism. Beauty has always and probably always will be a hobby for some women/people. First with YouTube, then Instagram and now TikTok, beauty is entertainment, so that hobbyism has grown exponentially and gotten girls to get interested younger and younger. I led research for a beauty retailer juggernaut 7 years ago and convinced them of the importance of understanding tweens. It's not massively different now. Yes, the interest in beauty is starting earlier, but recruiting the budding hobbyist is very different than the established regimen user...which brings me to the all-important #3. 3. Gen Alpha has NO. SPENDING. POWER. What we saw in Sephora in January (and everyone is still talking about) was the one time of year when they have spending power en masse (post holiday). Any beauty purchase still goes through Mom or Dad (and generally Mom...who is a Gen Xer or an older Millennial - the beauty consumer with true purchasing power and influence). Let's also not forget the tremendous legal (and ethical) limitations of trying to actually target and market to Gen Alpha directly. The only people in business (beauty or any other category) who should be concerned right now about Gen Alpha are the consumer insights leads. They should be starting to study them, to understand them, to form hypotheses and comparisons to Gen Z and Millennials when they were at similar life stages and ages. They should be seeking to understand their parents. It's only after years of that kind of in-depth analysis that organizations will have any real insights to shape consumer strategies. These frenzied attempts at chasing "trends" divert focus of your marketing and leadership teams who tend to be strapped for resources anyway. The better question for leaders in beauty is not how do we capture the attention of Gen Alpha...it's what should we be doing to make beauty a more welcoming, positive and joy-filled place for them - regardless of their skin tone, skin type, hair texture, etc. #beautyindustry #beauty #genz #genalpha #millennials #genx #marketing #consumerinsights #leadership
Social media is loud and we know with every new launch it can be tempting to expand your regimen. But skin is an organ, and it’s still developing during the teenage years. And sometimes less really is more. So we wanted to take a moment to share guidance straight from our lab - for those of you just stepping into skincare: 1) Use a non-stripping cleanser 2) Follow with a hydrating moisturizer 3) Protect skin with a sunscreen 4) Avoid ingredients like retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids at the start of your skincare journey If skin concerns do arise, we recommend consulting a physician or dermatologist. No need for a complex 10-step routine, or hefty price tags.

As a pharmacist how can I deal with Retinol Burn? 🥵 we often see patients experiencing retinol burn from their skincare routine. Retinol can be incredibly beneficial, but it’s important to use it correctly to avoid irritation. Here are recommendations for your patients to soothe and heal skin: 1. 🛑Stop Using Retinol: Temporarily discontinue the retinol product to give skin a chance to recover. 2. 🧼Gentle Cleanser: Use a mild, non-foaming cleanser like Bepanthen Derma gentle face cleanser, such products help clean without stripping your skin’s natural moisture. 3. 🧴Moisturise: Use a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer. Like La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume to help repair the skin barrier. 4. 💦Hydrate: Keep your skin hydrated with a hyaluronic acid serum. Uriage EAU thermal H.A serum will be a good choice. 5. 😮💨Soothe: aloe Vera provides soothing relief. 6. 🌞Sun Protection:Your skin is more sensitive now, so it’s crucial to use, like Isidin fusion fluid with 50+ SPF. 7. 😮💨Avoid Harsh Products: Steer clear of exfoliants, acids, and other potential irritants until your skin heals. 8. 👩🏻⚕️Consult a Dermatologist: If the burn is severe or doesn’t improve, seek advice from a dermatologist. Taking these steps can help your patients skin recover quickly and safely. Always introduce new skincare products gradually to avoid irritation. 👏 #asapharmacist #binsinapharmacy #PharmacyAdvice #SkincareTips #RetinolBurn #SkinCare #PharmacistRecommendations #HealthySkin

Investing in high-quality skincare is investing in your skin's future! Expensive anti-aging products often contain potent ingredients like retinoids, antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid, which can work wonders for your complexion. These ingredients may help improve skin texture, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and provide essential hydration. However, results can vary based on individual skin types and concerns. Remember, skincare is not just about what you put on your skin; it's also about your lifestyle. Maintain a healthy diet, regular exercise routine, and proper sun protection to support your skin's health and aging gracefully. Before diving into any skincare regimen, it's wise to consult a dermatologist for personalized advice. The Lip Care industry is $208 million and growing at over 50% year over year. 85% of women use lip care and there has been a 30% increase in them searching for lip colour + SPF. There was NOTHING on the market that delivered care, colour and protection all in one product, UNTIL last week when R+F announced the dermatologist created Plumping Lip Oil + SPF 28. Skincare for your lips 💋 It’s a smart, simple opportunity to use a product, share it with those around you and take a slice of the pie for yourself. #skincareopportunity #lipcare #lipcareroutine #glossylips #lipgloss #skincareroutine #businessopportunity #onlinebusiness

People overcomplicate skincare. Listen, if you’re a beginner: Avoid: ● Trying too many products at once ● Chasing trends without understanding your skin type ● Ignoring professional advice ● Skipping the basics, like cleansing and moisturizing Instead: ● Stick to a simple, consistent routine ● Focus on understanding your skin type ● Prioritize products that address your main concerns ● Consult a dermatologist for personalized advice Focus on this for the first 3 months. Build from there.
