Open 🔑 Access #Beyond the #Usual #Suspects: #Unmasking a #Rare #Pulmonary Co-#Infection 📜Case Report : ✍🏻Sahil Kumar #ABSTRACT This case report presents a 33-year-old male farmer with community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) pneumonia complicated by Leptospirosis. The patient presented with a 2.5-month history of high-grade fever, chest pain, and weight loss. Investigations revealed multiple cavitary lesions in bilateral lungs. Blood cultures were positive for MRSA, and ELISA for leptospira was positive. The patient was successfully treated with vancomycin and anticoagulation therapy and discharged. This week our Nephros team had the opportunity to assist a few #healthcare providers implement our FDA Cleared Class II Biological filtration to aid in #infectioncontrol. While on site we were asked why there has been increasing discussion revolving around aerators at sinks next to the #icemachines in #healthcarefacilities. Issues: # 1 They have the propensity to collect debris that becomes a bed for bacteria that can then bond and amplify. # 2 Once colonized, the aeresolization of potentialy harmful bacteria such as #legionella, #pseudomonas and #NTM can increase the risk of a healthcare acquired infection #HAI. # 3 The #water (unfiltered) from these sinks is oftentimes used in the #preventativemaintenance of the equipment. 🔴Nice case Demonstration of : ✅️Endoscopic transpancreatic septotomy as a precutting technique for difficult bile duct cannulation : 1️⃣Sphincterotome used to make a 5-mm incision along the guidewire from the pancreatic duct at the 11-12 o’clock direction. ⚠️Try to bring the blue marker on Sphincterotome outside incompre to biliary sphincterotomy. 2️⃣After removing the Sphincterotome, and the catheter is re-inserted into the bile duct along the upper left of the guidewire. Advantages : 1️⃣ a small incision; manageable direction; 2️⃣a low incidence of bleeding, perforation, and infection.
