Soft skills aren’t taught—they’re lived. 🏉 Watching my daughter play rugby, I reflected on the power of experiential learning. The positive mindset of her coaches is building our children’s emotional intelligence in action. FIRE—the ethos of the Dragons RFC team—teaches kids more than just rugby: 🔥F – Fun: Joy fuels growth. Rugby becomes exciting through engaging activities that ensure every player experiences the sheer joy of the game. 🔥I – Imagination: Creativity drives success. Players are encouraged to think outside the box, take risks, devise strategies, and tackle challenges with innovative solutions. 🔥R – Resilience: Mistakes are opportunities. Players learn to overcome setbacks, support teammates, and grow stronger together. 🔥E – Effort: Hard work matters. Commitment to the team and showing sportsmanship on and off the pitch are at the heart of every practice and match. Big thanks to Coaches Brad Janes, Kyle Browne, and Jonny Harris for instilling these powerful values in the next generation! ❤️ The lessons from the rugby field echo what I witness during equine-guided experiential coaching. 🐎 Just like on the pitch, teams learn best by doing—building #trust, #creativity, and #resilience in ways that leave a lasting impact. This is a great reflection on how experiential learning shapes essential life skills! The FIRE ethos beautifully highlights the transformative power of sports in fostering emotional intelligence and character development. I particularly love how you connect these lessons to equine-guided coaching—both environments emphasize hands-on learning and personal growth. Par contre, claquette chaussette, je m'interroge!
Going through any new experience that reflects on anyone positively or negatively because the return of each one is different from the other The desire to learn is the most important key to success. Every experience must be taken with joy and flexibility.
💯 % MAUD GASPARD fabulous post
What I love the most about this MAUD is that they are living their values - the leadership (in this case the coaches) really think this way and make it part of their culture! This is so powerful - thank you for sharing
Sportsmanship is essential in building character and confidence
Learning by doing is always better than powerpoints and pdf ! Up with Soft Skills !
Fantastic post, MAUD GASPARD! Firstly, thank you for trusting The Dragons RFC with coaching your children. I think many parents underestimate the incredible value of playing team sports at a young age. Of course, I’m biased, but I genuinely believe that few sports instill these values better than rugby. Personally, I owe so much of my success, both personally and professionally, to the skills and experiences I’ve developed through rugby. It teaches resilience in the face of losses, the joy of celebrating wins, teamwork, and the importance of approaching everything with a smile. I’m forever grateful to my parents for guiding me into sport and helping me develop the soft skills that have shaped who I am today. It’s now a privilege to lead the program at Dragons RFC and give back to the sport that has given me so much. I am lucky to work with so many outstanding coaches who care about what they do and are able to make a difference (Just like Brad and Kyle). Of course, it’s made even easier with such supportive and enthusiastic parents in our community! Thank you all for being part of the journey.
