Great overview by Jeff Berardelli. It no surprise it going to be a busy hurricane season in 2024. Utilities are experts at getting safe and reliable power up and running after a storm but here is the reality: - Hurricane and wildfire seasons are starting to overlap which impacts resources available for response, rescue, and recovery. - Storms are becoming more frequent - There is less time between storms - The hurricanes are stronger and increasing in strength Companies need to replace their old nasty T2 generators to cleaner, more efficient, utility friendly T4 Final gensets. If you are a large C&I customer, start exploring advanced #microgrids, utility incentives and federal grants. Now is the time to make this strategic decision as supply chain is backlogged and equipment can take 48 weeks - 2 years to get to the job site.
Hurricane season is only a month away and by all accounts it looks like a hyperactive one. Record warm Atlantic, La Nina in the Pacific and seasonal models that show a storm track towards the Caribbean. If you live in Hurricane Alley it's a good reminder to have a hurricane plan and discuss it with your family. https://lnkd.in/eayUq64z

Occupations and Natural Disasters Hurricane Helene struck two weeks ago, and Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Florida in the coming days. What’s particularly alarming about Milton is its unusually small eye. You might think a small eye is a good thing, but in fact, it’s not. Picture a ballerina spinning—when she pulls her limbs in, she spins faster. The same principle applies to storms. A smaller eye means the storm is more intense and dangerous. We cannot ignore the role of climate change in amplifying these extreme weather events. And a year filled with airstrikes only worsens the situation. One month of relentless bombing in Palestine produces as much carbon emissions as 10 countries. Now, with Lebanon and Iran joining the fray, the environmental impact is devastating. We cannot advocate for sustainability and climate action while ignoring the destructive consequences of conflict. Ceasefire is the only way forward. #HurricaneMilton #FreePalestine #Ceasefirenow

The value of weather forecasting and space technology, a demonstrated case of saving lives and utilisation of space products by politicians and government. More investment in this sector will help us save African lives as climate-related disasters will continue to intensify. More science engagement will make people aware of the value of science and technology. A blended research and application development approach will increase adoption of the space technology at grassroots levels.
