"Connecting your people to people." Love this, Al Dea. The best leaders in my career have always worked to help me grow by making high-impact introductions. This is a low lift for the manager, but a huge career opportunity for the team member. Great callout.

Great piece and love that you start by encouraging managers to amplify their team's work. Who doesn't love a manager who does that?

Such a great article Al Dea!!! Stoked you could contribute this piece.

Great insights Al Dea! Supporting employee career development is so critical, and I appreciate your focus on actionable ways managers can play a bigger role. One tool I’ve seen spark these conversations effectively is the internal talent marketplace. By helping employees visualize their career paths and identify growth opportunities, these platforms provide managers with a tangible way to guide development discussions. As one may suspect, I still feel there is a challenge that remains: the “talent hoarder” mindset. Some managers resist supporting mobility out of fear of losing top performers. Shifting this mindset requires seeing talent mobility as a win-win—building stronger teams and driving organizational growth. Would love to hear how others approach this!

Thank you for sharing your insights, Al! The point on connecting people to people is definitely a top insight. We need more connecting internally and externally!
