Summary of my blog post, "On Student Facing AI, Eduaide.Ai's Approach, and Transactional Alignment" In educational technology, deliberate caution is a virtue—especially when discussing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our classrooms. Such an intervention demands a careful, research-driven approach. At Eduaide, we are deeply invested in exploring how AI can promote beneficial teaching and learning outcomes without compromising academic integrity and privacy or stepping beyond the purview of the school's public function. The excitement surrounding generative AI's potential in education is palpable, yet it's essential to navigate this terrain without succumbing to hype. Schools hold a unique position as these institutions are not only centers of learning; they are custodians of public trust. They safeguard sensitive student data and academic information, all while carrying the significant responsibility of delivering high-quality education. As such, any technology introduced into this environment demands a thorough evaluation. One of the latest areas of concern is the implementation of student-facing AI. It is essential to establish robust guardrails before such a technology can be deemed ready for classroom use. Such safeguards must ensure that AI is constrained and operates within carefully defined educational parameters, promoting beneficial teaching and learning outcomes without compromising academic integrity, privacy, or stepping beyond the purview of the school's public function. These concerns are only compounded by the broader challenges of hallucinations and bias in AI response, as well as the practical considerations schools face when implementing new technologies—infrastructure requirements, teacher training, and the digital divide among students. Additionally, rigorous, unbiased research is needed to assess whether AI tools like Eduaide genuinely enhance learning and teaching processes before student-facing AI can be considered for classroom implementation. By adopting a thoughtful, deliberate stance and advocating for rigorous and controlled research, we believe AI can significantly contribute to education. Our commitment to ethical standards, transactional alignment, and collaborative development underpins our optimism for the future of AI in education. https://lnkd.in/eGs2YVxw #Eduaide #AIinEducation #EdTech #InnovativeTeaching #DigitalLearning

The Department for Education's recent call for evidence on AI in education has highlighted the immense potential of this technology to transform learning experiences and reduce teacher workload. However, it has also underscored the importance of developing AI tools that prioritise student safety and academic integrity. At Jamworks, we have been at the forefront of this mission since our inception. Our AI-powered note-taking and revision app is designed to harness the power of AI to create personalised, engaging learning experiences while mitigating the risks associated with this emerging technology. Central to our approach is the concept of a "walled garden" – ensuring that all AI outputs are directly linked to educational source material and cannot be used for plagiarism. Our AI tutor, JamAI, is trained to answer questions only about specific lecture content, minimising the risk of hallucination and misuse. By locking AI-generated content to lesson materials, we empower students to benefit from the revolutionary potential of AI while safeguarding academic integrity. This resonates strongly with the DfE's commitment to ensuring there is always a "human in the loop" and that AI serves to enhance, rather than replace, teachers' professional judgement. As the DfE continues to explore the possibilities of AI in education, Jamworks stands ready as a trusted partner – pioneering safeguarded AI tools that unleash the power of personalised learning while upholding the highest standards of educational excellence. https://lnkd.in/ggUHv7pb #JamworksAI #EdTech #InclusiveEducation

As an educator, I’m passionate about how technology can reshape teaching and boost student outcomes. Here’s how AI is doing both ⤵️ 1️⃣ Frees up teachers from administrative tasks, allowing more focus on students. 2️⃣ Personalizes learning to help students progress at their own pace, leading to better outcomes. 3️⃣ Provides real-time analytics to pinpoint where students need the most support. 4️⃣ Supports adaptive assessments to efficiently address learning challenges. This isn’t about replacing teachers—it’s about empowering them with tools to help students thrive and companies like MagicSchool AI are leading the charge. How do you see AI transforming learning in your field? #AI #Education #Students #Teachers

📖 The Pregrade Story: Leveraging AI Responsibly Through Balancing AI and Human Expertise in Essay Grading As educators, we’re witnessing an exciting evolution in education technology. Artificial intelligence (#AI) is making its mark, promising efficiency, consistency, and new possibilities. But how do we navigate this landscape while ensuring student success and maintaining the human touch? 1. Purposeful Application: a) Misuse of AI Resources (MR): Pregrade, our AI essay grader, is a powerful tool. But it’s not a replacement for thoughtful teaching and grading. Using it purposefully aligns its use with intended goals. b) Mismatching of AI Pedagogy (MP): Pregrade’s strategies should complement—not overshadow—pedagogical approaches. It’s essential to avoid using it in contexts where human feedback or nuanced understanding is crucial, which is why we strongly suggest educators revise or add to the feedback drafted by our AI. 2. Ethical Security Matters: a) Privacy Security Risk (PSR): Student data is sacred. Pregrade handles it securely, following privacy regulations. b) Transparency Risk (TR): Pregrade uses given rubrics to assign grades to any essay, ensuring fairness and consistency. c) Accountability Risk (AR): Clear guidelines should exist for handling disagreements between AI grading and human assessment. Who is responsible for final decisions? d) Bias Risk (BR): Pregrade undergoes bias testing. Fair treatment matters—always. 3. Man-Machine Interaction Risk: a) Perceived Risk (PR): With the strong emphasis of post-grading checks by educators, students and educators alike don’t have to worry about AI reliability. b) Real Threats (RT): Regular audits and continuous improvement are essential, and we conduct checks to make sure Pregrade runs smoothly. Use Pregrade as a complement by combining its AI-powered efficiency with personalized feedback, ensuring students benefit from both. Let’s embrace AI thoughtfully, keeping our students’ growth at the center.
