As today is World International Charity Day, we honor the vital role of philanthropy in alleviating the worst effects of humanitarian crises. The UN recognizes that charity builds resilient societies, yet today, nearly half of the global population lives in poverty. Philanthropy is good, and we proudly contribute, but to make a lasting difference, we need more than charity—we need systemic change. The trillions required to end poverty are concentrated in the hands of a few. At Millionaires for Humanity, we advocate for a wealth tax on the world’s richest, including ourselves. Philanthropy is good, but wealth taxes are better. Let’s champion change that benefits everyone. #InternationalDayOfCharity #WealthTax #Philanthropy #wealthinequality

🧡 What Does Reconciliation Mean? 🧡 Reconciliation is the ongoing process of healing, understanding, and building respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and people. It involves acknowledging the painful legacy of Residential Schools, honoring survivors, and working towards a future built on truth, justice, and equality. Wearing an orange shirt on September 30th is a simple but powerful way to connect with this process. It’s a statement that you stand with Indigenous communities in remembering the past and committing to a better future. When you wear orange, you say, "Every Child Matters," and show your support for the ongoing journey of healing and reconciliation. How You Can Get Involved: - Purchase an orange shirt to symbolize your commitment to reconciliation. https://lnkd.in/eHFa6FPF - Learn about the history of Residential Schools and their impact on Indigenous communities. - Support Indigenous-led initiatives like Anishnawbe Health Foundation, a registered charity that works with generous donors and partners to support improved health and well-being for the Indigenous community in Toronto. Wear orange for awareness, action, and reconciliation. 🧡

A week echo #BayesCCE #LloydsBankFoundation in 'Reflecting Forward' I set out in 40 minutes - 40 years of working in and with the Voluntary Sector. - the state we're in now (and how some contracting large charities may have 'lost the plot' - a question I was asked); - the current State we work with (and how we need to get off the Roller Coasters of contracting, regulation & media) to focus on ALL of those we exist for (whether we are national or local players); - and how we need to get back to our core strengths of passion for the cause; challenging the status quo; innovating to show what can be done and using people power to advocate for change; - galvanising around 3 core issues: Inequality (individually and geographically); inclusion and climate change to argue for a more compassionate society more in tune with the Zeitgeist of Younger Generations & a more diverse Britain if we are to make any headway on our individual issues. With each election cycle, nonprofits face a familiar, though sometimes unsettling, reality: political transitions can bring shifts in priorities, funding sources, and tax laws. As new leadership takes office, it’s natural to feel some uncertainty about what changes might come, especially regarding policies that impact nonprofits and the generosity of our donors. The good news is that, while these changes are significant, they also offer nonprofits an opportunity to reinforce the importance of donor support, build resilience, and deepen our connection with those who believe in our mission. https://wix.to/UM7ek4z #Fundraising #Politics
