Shelf Development... def. Attending numerous courses, conventions and exhibitions and taking copious amounts of notes and then putting all of that information on a shelf without taking any significant action to put into place any of the learnings from the event. Can also be enhanced by typing these "hand-written" notes up and doing the same i.e. nothing.

As Global Speakers Federation (#GSF), we recognize the power of collective action, and as a member association, you become part of a global network committed to advancing the speaking profession. Collaborative projects are the heartbeat of GSF. They provide a platform for associations like yours to join forces, pool resources, and drive initiatives that benefit speakers worldwide. Take, for instance, the inauguration of the Professional Speakers Celebration Day. This global event, which reached over a million people worldwide, is a testament to what we can achieve together. But that's just one of many examples. GSF is also focused on harmonizing accreditations, ensuring that the standards for professional speakers are consistent and recognized internationally. Dual membership benefits, another fruitful collaboration, allow speakers to access resources and opportunities from multiple associations, maximizing their growth potential. And there's much more happening behind the scenes. By being part of GSF, your association has the chance to shape the future of the speaking profession around the world through collaborative efforts. Connect with us and explore the myriad opportunities to work with other associations on international projects. Together, we can achieve greatness and elevate the speaking profession to new heights. 🤝🌐🚀 #GSFBenefits #CollaborativeProjects #ProfessionalSpeaking #GlobalInfluence #AssociationLeadership #CollectiveAction #VoiceOfGSF #GlobalSpeakers #globalspeakersfederation #gsf #associationleaders #speakersassociation #speakersassociation #speakersunite

The 2024 EAIE Conference was something special for me. I had the chance to share my experience and ideas as speaker in one of the sessions. Something big for me, as I have always looked up to EAIE speakers with deep admiration. However this wouldn’t have been possible without meeting Edmund Guzman last year at the Admission reception. He was willing to listen and welcome the ideas of a young professional, taking the initiative to develop such ideas into a talk for the next Conference. And also it wouldn’t have been possible without Dennis Bot who jumped in with no hesitation and proved to be the best moderator we could have asked for, sharing as well his fundamental point of view. I am happy to say that our presentation truly worked out and I have been so surprised in finding out how well we worked together and how complementary we were coming from three different backgrounds (although I did have the highest expectations)! This is what EAIE: European Association for International Education is able to create! But I must also thank Paola Tedeschi, my team leader and everyday source of inspiration, who has created an environment where we can grow, and my colleagues Laura Cavriana Gianmarco Balistreri FEDERICA G. that supported me everyday and covered my daily tasks to allow me to attend the conference. We know that September is a crazy time in the Admission sector! And I am also grateful to the many of you who joined our session - I didn’t expect so many people! This is the demonstration that trying to keep a human approach in the marketing and admission sector is an important topic. I was happy to notice that our speeches were inputs for a lively conversation, this is what we were aiming for! Not giving the ultimate solution (something that we do not have except for tips, inputs and lessons we’ve learned along the way), but starting the conversation, making the right questions arise. We as admission officers are drops in the ocean, but it is our responsibility to start asking the right questions to guide the conversation in the right direction and, more importantly, to make the conversation on such topics happen. Another lesson I learned and suggestion to share with all the young professionals: don’t be afraid of speaking up, you never know what can happen next!

9 steps to building a small magical event. In 2008, we did our first Do Lectures 100-person event. Each year has taught us new lessons. Oh boy. • Some tough. • Some needed. • Some had to be repeated so I could learn them properly. I can save you from making those mistakes. I got the scars and bruises; you can skip those. So yeah, if you dream of doing your own event, or want to go to a higher level, I will share 16 years of knowledge in one single day. London workshop. Oct 17th.
