Empowering Communities to End GBV: Focus on Grassroots Action Today, as part of Day 10 of the 16 Days of Activism, we spotlight Community Engagement under the theme Grassroots Action. Real change begins at the community level, where inclusive and localized efforts can effectively tackle Gender-Based Violence (GBV). By addressing the unique challenges faced by women, particularly elderly women, we foster solutions that leave no one behind. Elderly women often face neglect and abuse that goes unspoken due to stigma or societal norms. Awareness campaigns allow us to reach vulnerable individuals, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns addressed. Community dialogues serve as safe spaces to discuss localized solutions, from addressing cultural norms to enhancing justice systems. Let us unite to break the silence, uplift every survivor, and build communities that value dignity and justice for all women, especially the elderly. Together, we can take grassroots action to end GBV. #16DaysOfActivism #CommunityEngagement #EndGBV #SupportElderlyWomen #GrassrootsAction #EmpowerCommunities #DonyaJusticeNetworkKenya #BreakTheSilence

Todays, National Women of Colour in Policing conference was exceptional! The list of amazing speakers, some of whose experiences reminisce with me at so many levels. Thankyou all for sharing your stories. What is now a chapter in your life, is a living hope for others. What have I taken from this? 1. Microaggression is not acceptable. It is real and it does happen. Address the negative behaviour when it occurs without fear and learn to let it become "background noise". Move on! 2. Imposter syndrome, understand why it's happening and navigate your own success. 3. Allyship. Create trusted networks, whether that's locally, regionally or nationally. 4. Pave the way for women of colour. Help open those doors and make sure they're left open. Thankyou NWOCiP. #Seeingisbelieving #WeAreStrongerTogether #NationalWomenofColourinPolcingUK #StaffordshirePolice

Today, on International Human Rights Day, we reflect on the theme “About Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.” Human rights are universal, indivisible, and interdependent—and they belong to everyone. As we celebrate this day, we recognize the importance of protecting the rights of all, especially those most vulnerable in our communities, like women and girls facing gender-based violence and homelessness. Read our latest blog post to learn more about the significance of Human Rights Day, why human rights matter now more than ever, and how we can take action together: https://lnkd.in/gfhCHcy7 #HumanRightsDay #AboutOurRightsOurFuture #HumanRights #EndViolence #EndHomelessness #ActNow #UniversalDeclarationOfHumanRights #JusticeForAll

Just three small words, but so powerful. Survivors are constantly told by perpetrators that no one will believe them if they tell anyone about what is happening to them or try and report the abuse and violence to the police. Many perpetrators are so charming that they can easily manipulate and charm, close friends, family members, and in some cases statutory organisations, into thinking what a wonderful person they are. This power and control that the perpetrator has, isolates the survivors and creates a barrier for the survivor in accessing support and reporting the violence and abuse. Being reliant on the perpetrator for her immigration status or not being able to communicate in English, creates further layers of barriers for BME survivors who maybe NRPF. At AWRC - Changing Women's Lives we have created a safe place, where survivors are told “We Believe You”. Three words that a survivor thought they may never hear.
We believe you. At AWRC, we understand that every survivor’s story is unique and deserves to be heard with respect and compassion. We are here for women seeking safety, healing, and support. Your experiences are real, your feelings are valid, and you don’t have to face this journey alone! Our specialist services offer the culturally-sensitive support you need, without judgment. What We Do: Raising Awareness Through Imagery Every individual has the right to advocate for the protection and realization of human rights for women and children. Yet, a significant gap exists between established human rights norms and their enforcement. This is where NGOs like AIMS Human Rights Society Surveys play a vital role. We are dedicated to raising awareness about pressing socio-humanitarian issues, including domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism, women’s empowerment, and human trafficking. Through awareness campaigns, seminars, and processions, we aim to be strong advocates for change. Our programs are guided by our commitment to the 3Es: **Edify, Equip, and Enable**. We believe that visual storytelling is a powerful tool in achieving these goals. With sincerity, passion, and compassion, we strive to create a safer, more equitable world for women and children. Join us in our mission to make a difference! 💪 #HumanRights #WomenEmpowerment #ChildProtection #AIMS #ICES2024

emPOWer Press release: As a network of women’s organisations, emPOWer is profoundly saddened and deeply angered by the tragic and senseless death of Nicolette Ghirxi. This horrific loss underscores a disturbing pattern where women continue to suffer and die at the hands of violent men. We call on authorities to urgently implement stronger, more effective protective measures that are immediately undertaken upon the filing of an initial complaint, ensuring that women in vulnerable situations receive the immediate and comprehensive protection they deserve. This tragedy must spark meaningful reforms that will safeguard women's lives across our community. Words are no longer enough; it's time for concrete actions that make a real difference in women's lives. In addition, we stress the importance of educating both girls and boys from a young age about respect, equality, and non-violence. Women must also be equipped to recognise the signs of potential aggressors, enabling them to protect themselves before it’s too late.
