CES is chaos. There's no other way to describe it. 150 countries. 1400 startups. 4300 total exhibitors. 135,000 attendees. To get discovered in the chaos of it is one thing. But to get discovered AND to be applauded, amongst this vast pool of companies, was nothing short of a miracle. From the steady flow of attendees and tour groups to being honored with - not one - but two awards, our team was feeling the love for Lotus (Techstars'23)! But don’t take my word for it. It’s official, Leeds Digital Festival is back! The atmosphere of anticipation at the official launch party tonight was palpable, and I can’t wait to be inspired by this year’s incredible programme of events. If you haven’t already planned your calendar, don’t worry, I’ve done it for you. Here’s a rundown of my top 5 unmissable events at this year’s festival. There’s something for everyone. 1. DWP Digital: AI and Innovation – 16th September Learn all about ethical best practices in AI concept development through a series of proof-of-concept projects and case studies from Accenture’s Amar Narayan, and DWP’s Simon King. This event will provide a window into the world of AI innovation in the public sector. 2. Cracking the Code to Home Ownership With Composable Banking – 17th September Take an insider’s look at how technology can help solve some of society's biggest problems, through the lens of Leeds Building Society and Accenture’s work to make homeownership achievable for more people. Hear from those at the heart of the project, including Director of Innovation, James Keatley, and Head of Technology, Paul Hodgson, as well as Accenture’s own Anna McKinven. 3. Women in Tech Breakfast: Bridging the Gap with Technology – 18th September The Women in Tech series is all about networking and sharing ideas. Hinná Khan CP APMP and Neil McFarlane will be joined by other special guests to delve into the transformative power of technology, and explore how we can create a future defined by inclusive, technology-enabled experiences that close social inequality gaps. All genders are welcome, and questions and opinion-sharing are encouraged. 4. Mobile: Exploring Innovation and Insights into Mobile Development – 24th September Get the low-down on A/B testing from Accenture’s Head of Mobile Practice, Aaron Thompson. He’ll be exploring the current state of mobile, and explaining the role that generative AI and other trends are playing in shaping development environments. 5. Techsploration: Discovering Careers in Technology – 26th September Think you know what it means to work in tech? Think again. This stereotype-busting careers event is the ideal opportunity to discover the diversity of opportunities the technology sector offers. While the second-generation Living Labs are getting ready to test their business models, we are checking in with the three original Recharge Living Labs - The Hunt Museum, Museo del Tessuto and Eesti Meremuuseum / Estonian Maritime Museum - to understand how their projects are moving forward.
