Parents, teaching kids about money doesn’t have to be complicated—it can actually be fun! Here’s a simple and engaging activity to help your children start saving toward their dreams: 1. Find an empty jar (like a used mayonnaise jar) and help them clean it out. 2. Have your child cut out a picture of something they want to save for. 3. Let them glue the picture on the jar to visualize their goal. 4. Encourage them to start saving bit by bit. 5. Watch as they learn the value of saving and see their money grow! Looking for even more fun ways to teach financial literacy? Join the waitlist for The New Cone game app, packed with exciting activities to help kids learn about money while having a great time! ✨ This holiday season, teens and adults can agree: fads come and go, but CASH is always in style! Instead of another gadget, you can give a gift that matters—a contribution to their #YouthSavings account. It’s a great way to teach them about wealth-building and saving for something special (like concert tickets!). Join me in making this holiday special with a gift that keeps on giving. 🔗 Get started in as little as 5 minutes: https://ow.ly/wI8R50UsB1T #GiftOfWealth #SmartInvesting #TeenFinance

As a Fintech leader, I would be remiss not to pass along this information to parents…I’ve been using Greenlight since 2021 and love it! Greenlight is a money app and debit card for kids and teens. No, I don’t work there. But I’m a fan of their product! Check them out. TL;DR —————— I put time aside every Saturday morning to take stock of my finances. This includes checking my kids accounts in Greenlight. I check the interest they’ve earned (5%annualized!) in their savings, their spending history, and investments (ex. in lieu of allowance, my 13 year old invested in Roblox- and has watched his small investment grow). I can send money instantly, assign extra chores (way to earn money beyond their expected chores), and invoking my teacher roots - send them gamified content within greenlight teaching them to earn, save, and invest. I never had an allowance growing up, and my parents lived paycheck to paycheck. I wasn’t exposed to much financial literacy, and fell into debt in my earlier adult years. So as a parent with the privilege of having means to put aside money for my kids’ beyond normal expenses, Greenlight has been a really great way to manage it all. If interested DM me or click on this link. https://lnkd.in/gQ7Z5T9X I’m also curious what other money apps/programs other parents are using that has similar benefits. Please share in the commments. I seriously want to know! P.S. Thanks Johnson Cook and Tim Sheehan for creating a fantastic tool! #fintech #financialliteracy #finance #parenting

If you have a 529 plan set up for your child, most 529 plans have made it easy for friends and family to make a gift. So, when the holidays or birthdays roll around, you can ask Grandma to make a gift for their FUTURE instead of buying more toys that they will forget about tomorrow! Each plan is different, but most have a way to share a gift code for contributing online or by check or a link or QR code to share. #collegefunding #educationfunding #savingforthefuture #moneybossmom Aspyre Wealth Partners® my529

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Financial Literacy Month and Teach Children to Save Day with our communities! According to a recent Greenlight survey, 93% of children believe they need financial knowledge to achieve their goals, and 97% of parents agree. So we want to thank the entire United Community team for spreading financial knowledge to all, especially these children and teenagers. Volunteers, bankers, managers, Junior Board members, and Council Members demonstrated how impactful financial education could be early on by reading "The Four Money Bears" by Mac Gardner, CFP®, to classrooms across the Southeast. "The Four Money Bears" is a book that helps children begin learning about spending, saving, investing, and giving. This knowledge will help the next generation make better financial decisions. But to help put the knowledge of "The Four Money Bears" into practice, we have partnered with Greenlight, a trusted banking app and debit card for kids and teenagers, to set them up for financial success. With Greenlight, children and teenagers can earn money by completing chores, setting savings goals, and spending intelligently with their own debit cards. Parents can automate allowances, set adaptable controls, and receive real-time notifications each time their kids spend money. To celebrate Financial Literacy all year round, United Community customers can enjoy the Greenlight money app for FREE! Visit bit.ly/UCBI-Greenlight to learn more about Greenlight.
