It seems that —in the aftermath of a disaster— macaques are doing what #Europeans did after the #disaster of the II WW: they join forces and show tolerance and understanding. Situation: summing - #climatechange, - the idiocy of #MEGA and it's possible allies (the #French #Stylo and the #italian #Poisonous #Melon and others power-thirsty vampires), - the madness of the #ZarOfTheWars, - the coming back of the #BananaRepublic in #Argentina and its possible influence on brainless Europeans, the only way to avoid #climate, #economic and #social #disasters is seriously going back to the frame of mind of the old Founding Fathers of the European Union: #unity. Macaques joined forces in the aftermath of a #Climate #Disaster. An example to follow, European Commission and Ursula von der Leyen. But not #after the disaster. If we really are more intelligent than macaques, we should do it #before. Life is not a rehearsal. We only have one opportunity. And wasting it in #power #games can be defined by only one binomial coupling: #greedy #stupidity.

May we use our remembrance to fuel efforts to do better next time and every time. All must be prepared from family to small business to big business to government and everyone in between through: - contingency planning, - risk mitigation, and - resilience training (real stuff, not the airy fairy feel good webinars - CIMS focused training and simulations centred around how to process the intensity of response and how to recover as an individual and as a community) The disasters will come. We must do better.
Today, we remember those we lost in the earthquake 13 years ago. Our thoughts are with their whānau, friends and the wider Christchurch community. Anniversaries can be sobering, but they are also a reminder of the incredible country we live in. People stepped up and went above and beyond for their communities. Everyday heroes showed their kindness, perseverance and community spirit during this time. Whatever today means to you, show yourself some extra aroha and kindness. Our hearts are shattered as we witness the devastation caused by torrential rains and flash floods in southeastern Spain. At least 95 souls have been lost, but this disaster’s toll goes far beyond numbers. It is a tragedy that resonates across Europe, impacting every one of us. In Chiva, near Valencia, over a year's worth of rain fell within just eight hours. Bridges have been swept away, cars torn from streets, and residents cling to anything that offers safety. It’s impossible to truly comprehend the scale of loss and destruction that has unfolded. To all those mourning loved ones, we share in your grief and extend our deepest condolences. To those fighting in these hours, know that you are not alone. Europe stands with you, ready to rebuild and support. More than 1,000 troops are on the ground, with emergency resources from across the EU being mobilized, including Copernicus Emergency Mapping. Together, we will rebuild and rise from this tragedy. #Spain

Never believed that I would produce such an event! Recently, I had the honor of organizing a special event for the management and leadership of "Mekorot," Israel's national water company, titled "Leadership under Fire." This time, the event took place in Sderot, a southern town profoundly impacted by Hamas on October 7th. This gathering was a heartfelt tribute to the resilient people of Sderot, showing support and solidarity. The event was deeply moving, featuring powerful stories from survivors who are now looking to the future and finding ways to rebuild their lives and communities. Here are a few key takeaways: 💪 The strength and support of the community are essential to overcoming crises and challenges. 🌟 People who have faced the most devastating tragedies can heal and rebuild by looking forward and focusing on concrete plans for the future. 🔧 Always prepare for challenging situations: the next earthquake, war, or weather crisis. Being proactive is crucial. On a personal note, it feels incredibly rewarding to be working on events again. This one, in particular, was profoundly empowering and heartwarming. #LeadershipUnderFire #CommunityStrength #Resilience #EventManagement #Mekorot #Sderot #Preparedness

Neglected crises are those that don't get much attention from the media, donors, or policymakers. They often last a long time and have complex causes like conflict, climate change, and poor governance. Tearfund Australia, along with 20 other members of the Integral Alliance, is drawing attention to these crises around the world. Next week, we'll publish a report: "Five Factors Driving Neglected Crises," which explores the multifaceted reasons behind the neglect. Tearfund is a member of the Integral Alliance, which is made up of 21 Christian relief and development agencies, united in their vision to alleviate suffering and restore hope in disasters. With the right partners, no disaster is too far away to make an impact.
Following the 2023 earthquake in #Nepal, Episcopal Relief & Development worked with local partnerships to provide essential provisions to survivors like Sita, a young mother and her daughter who lost their family home.
