Last week our co-Managing Partner Vishesh Srivastava enjoyed speaking to a conference of over 600 leaders of #BCorp impact focused businesses at B For Good Leaders about how the investment industry can help scale up impact.
This week co-Managing Partner Tracey Huggett will be addressing the investment industry at SuperReturn conference on the topic of how ESG can create investment value.
The Future Business Partnership's work will always be to connect mission-driven business with mission-aligned capital.
Last week I had a privilege of speaking at one of the most energising and positive conferences I've ever attended - a collaboration of over 600 leaders of B Corps - businesses which meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance. The B For Good Leaders event in Amsterdam discussed how financial impact investors like FBP can make a positive difference in supporting businesses that are solving social and environmental problems at scale. Thank you to the organisers for inviting Future Business Partnership to the stage and to all my fellow panellists doing inspiring work.

Do you connect better with Aristotle or Star Trek or maybe you carve out your own path when it comes to #communication?
I strongly believe in the KISS principle – Keep It Simple Superstar ™ 😁 !
Another famous Hellene, Ari as I like to call him, mentioned that peeps connect with speech when it contains a wonderful balance of 3 essentials: ethos (credibility and evidence), pathos (storytelling and emotions), and logos (logic and reason).
This creates the best probability of creating a connection with them the audience!
Can’t connect with Aristotle – how about #StarTrek, where Cpt. Kirk becomes pathos, Bones becomes ethos, and Spock is of course…. logos.

Disparities in urology care, especially concerning kidney stones, between rural and metro areas is a pressing issue:
1. Urologist Shortage in Rural Areas: According to the American Urological Association (AUA), only 38% of all US counties have a practicing urologist. This means that 62% of US counties lack a single active urologist. The shortage of urologists is particularly concerning for rural populations, where access to specialized care is limited. Patients in rural counties often face challenges in accessing urological services due to geographical barriers and fewer available providers.
2. Travel Distance for Kidney Stone Treatment: Patients from rural counties often travel significant distances for kidney stone treatment. On average, patients travel over 100 miles (with an average of 107 +/- 34 miles) to receive care. This increased travel burden can lead to delays in evaluation, longer travel times, and reduced access to timely treatment for kidney stones in rural areas.
3. Disparities in Kidney Stone Treatment Between Rural and Metro Areas: A study by Scholes-Robertson highlighted patient and caregiver perspectives on access to kidney replacement therapy in rural communities. It emphasized the challenges faced by rural patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and kidney failure in accessing nephrology care. The disparities in access to disease-stabilizing treatment and renal replacement therapies contribute to the burden of kidney stones in rural populations. These disparities affect not only treatment outcomes but also the quality of life for patients in rural areas.
This first-in-class product provides a promising path to address this unmet need and bridge the access gap.

Thanks to Scott Pantel, Kelly Williams and the whole #LSI team at #LSIUSA24 last week! We attended some excellent panel sessions with world-class leaders and we were able to put our own business proposition in front of a focused and interested group of venture investors. Everything about this conference was first-class, including the meeting rooms, meeting-table set up and yes, the catering. That isn’t a given as we all know!
