Now THIS is brilliant marketing! I just got a handwritten letter in the mail from a software we've previously explored. Their note addresses a common problem and has a solution with a nice $100 gift card for scheduling a call. They say there's no commitment, and there's a limited time factor playing into FOMO. They likely have a very clear understanding of their cost per acquisition of customers as well as life time value of their customers. So if I were to use this gift card AND become a customer, they likely will see a profit! Have you ever tried doing something like this for capturing leads? Offering incentives for research participation is fairly common. It actually "needs" to be included for focus groups, IDI's and more. People won't spend five minutes for their time without compensation. Like the old joke says: “Sure, I'm happy to share all my expertise for free!" I do want to express my caution for PR & Marketing campaigns - as reporters do frown upon cash incentives for survey participation. In fact, I would wholeheartedly suggest NO CASH incentives for participation for PR & Marketing surveys. Instead, offer an insignificant gift card ($25, for example) - for participating in 5 surveys in 6 months. You want to drive real people who want to share their real thoughts to PR & Marketing surveys. Paying cash = fakers #marketingcommunications #publicrelations #marketing
