🚧 Good Samaritan Hospital’s Seismic Safety Project Begins! 🚧 We’re thrilled to announce the approval of the first phase of our $1.2 billion seismic safety project! 🎉 This milestone includes a state-of-the-art 658-space parking garage, a $71.7 million investment to enhance accessibility for our patients, staff, and visitors. The six-floor garage will replace an outdated structure on the east side of campus, paving the way for a new seismic-compliant hospital tower to meet California’s 2030 safety standards. 💬 “Our commitment to patient safety and community health drives every decision we make,” shared Patrick Rohan, CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital. “This parking garage is a critical first step in transforming our campus to meet seismic standards while ensuring seamless care access.” 🏗️ The project, scheduled to break ground in 2025, will not only support our 55,000+ annual patients but also create around 1,000 construction jobs. Buildings at Least 20 Kilometers Away from the Nearest Hospital - Overture Maps I queried for building density, then hospitals. I then determined the grid distance between the hospitals and buildings, keeping only the buildings at least 20 kilometers from a hospital. Since I used grid distance, we get the hexagon gaps. So not especially scientific, but I think good enough for a general sense. This map really depends on the validity of classifications for hospitals. #duckdb #h3 #overturemaps #fsq_studio
