New nonprofit consultants often come to me saying they don’t know how to find their niche.
They want to know:
- What services to offer?
- How to create a great package?
- What specialty is in demand?
When we got started, we had the same questions. And we made some common mistakes. Like not specializing, not productizing, and not researching our target audience.
I knew when we started the Mentorship Program, I wanted to help new consultants tackle this question in a different way.
So I had an idea.
What if, when identifying their niche, we started with what they actually *like* to do?
Because the thing is, you can be successful in almost anything if you put in the work – but if you don’t like what you do, what are the chances that you’ll actually do it everyday?
When we implemented this change in our own business, we added nine clients and more than $25,000 in additional revenue in just three months.
Are you a new nonprofit consultant struggling to decide your niche? What specific challenges are you facing around this decision?
