We are at a critical juncture, faced with interlinked crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. These challenges impact not only the present but will also resonate for generations to come. Therefore, on this National Sustainability Day, we not only celebrate our achievements but also reaffirm our commitment to a sustainable future. 💡 Uniting Forces for a Sustainable Future Today, I proudly reaffirm my support for the Future Generations Initiative, which advocates for concrete policies to safeguard the rights of future generations within the European Union. This initiative calls for three pivotal actions: - Interinstitutional Declaration on the Rights of Future Generations across EU institutions. -Nomination of a Future Generations Commissioner, serving as an Executive Vice President dedicated to protecting long-term interests. -Future Generations Impact Assessment as part of the Better Regulation Guidelines, ensuring that today’s laws do not jeopardize tomorrow’s world. 🔑 Why am I backing this initiative? (And you should too) Protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable prosperity are not merely moral imperatives; they are legal obligations we owe to future generations. ✨ We require bold leadership from the EU to ensure that future generations inherit a thriving, equitable, and sustainable world.
