💥 Yes! It's D-Day! We arrived at Gasunie this morning and were blown away by the stunning architecture inside. We felt like real VIPs! After a few hours of practice, it was time for the real deal: our teams were ready to pitch. Each team had a 'chosen one' take the stage, and it was incredibly inspiring to hear what they've been working on over the past few days. Thrown together in 5 teams 6 days ago, they had to figure out how to solve their challenges, and they did their absolute best! 💪 After the pitches, the jury decided which team was the winner. Congrats, team Gasunie! Besides the impressive results from our teams, we also had the pleasure of listening to keynote speaker Arash Aazami's inspiring words about the future of energy ⚡ Thanks to everyone who was present today; you made the day even better. A special shoutout to our chairwoman, Frédérique Arnold, for putting everything together. But most of all: thanks to our amazing business developers—you rock! Another day, another journey through the realm of innovation! 🌿  Today (after a good night of sleep or uhm… whatever you'd like to call it) our teams kicked off at House Of Connections in Groningen, where Maaike de Heij from Wubbo Ockels School for Energy & Climate, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen set the tone for our day. After the daily stand-ups, we explored the important role of IT in the energy transition with Ruurd Jorna and Tim den Brundel from CGI Nederland. Then, focus on the cases again! And what better way to unwind than with a drink at NOK in Forum Groningen, soaking in the skyline views? 🍹 But the adventure didn't end there – we had a delicious meal at De Pijp Groningen before diving back into work. It's been a whirlwind of activity, but with every hour, we're one step closer to our goals. Had the pleasure to host my Nordic colleagues in Stockholm yesterday, for a Nordic Roadmap Steering Group meeting – fab to see you all in the flesh Sofie Hvid Rasmussen, Eero Hokkanen, Ida Ringdal Lindtvedt and Sveinung Oftedal. We discussed the Nordic Fuel Transition Roadmap and we had projets leads Dorthe Alida Slotvik from DNV and Denis Cederholm-Larsen from MAN Energy Solutions present to discuss e.g. the Roadmap recommendations. The Roadmap was initiated by the The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council in 2022 and is a response to e.g. the 2023 GHG Strategy och the International Maritime Organization and the ambition of the Roadmap is for the Nordics to become a global force for accelerating the green transition of the transport sector. It preliminary identifies three main barriers for the uptake of zero-emission fuels for Nordic shipping as follows: technology and safety; fuel availability; demand and costs. Maybe not surprising, but we got a clear message from industry on actions needed; all stakeholders must come together – industry, governments, academia, financial institutions.. On 14 January, I was one of the about 400 early birds who joined the Energy Breakfast organised by EBN B.V. at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag. This year's theme was ‘work under construction’, which was visualised by moderator Marcel Hoenderdos who was wearing a safety helmet. Key message was that we need to move from planning to execution to make the #energytransition happen. Major element was te presentation of the ‘famous’ #infographic “Energy in figures”. Minister Sophie Hermans of the Ministerie van Klimaat en Groene Groei received the infographic from Jan Willem van Hoogstraten, CEO of EBN, in a nice frame to decorate her working room. The infographic illustrates the major #facts and #figures about the Dutch #energysystem and its #decarbonisation, and is very useful for everyone involved in the #energy sector. Teun Bokhoven (TKI Urban Energy) and Kees Vendrik (Nationaal Klimaat Platform) handed over the #heat offer to Sophie Hermans on behalf the Heat Alliance. This offer intends to breach the stagnation of the deployment of district #heating systems to decarbonise the build environment. The aim is to connect over half million of households to a district heating system. Olof van der Gaag (Nederlandse Vereniging Duurzame Energie (NVDE)) and Servaas van der Ven (VNO-NCW) presented the results of a survey amongst small- and medium-sized #enterprises about the energy #transition, carried out by Markteffect. The results showed that about 75% of companies already take measures to reduce their #carbon intensity inter alia via #electrification and #efficiency. Most companies seem not to be concerned about the impact of #climatechange on their #business.   During a pitch session, Manon van Beek (TenneT), Manon Leijten (ACM), Berend Potjer (deputy at Provincie Zuid-Holland), Henk ter Harmsel (Pluimers Isolatie) among others showcased what they have achieved, have to offer and need to accelerate the energy transition. The e-DNA method to detect bats when insulating cavity walls was a fascinating #innovation. Next in line was Diederik Samsom, one of the founders of the European Green Deal. He was able to transform the negativism about European #deindustrialisation in a positive message by presenting #perspectives how Europe can decarbonise their #industry, develop #cleantech and create #greenjobs. Of course, we are curious about the new Clean Industrial Deal as follow-up.    The official programme was concluded by comedian Andries Tunru, who improvised a great rap song based on some input from the audience. After the programme, there was plenty of room for #networking.
