𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐇𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫: 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧‘𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 At Hackathons, you never know what doors might open—and for Honglin Li, #HerHackathon 2023 was the game-changer! It all started when her classmate casually asked, "Do you know about HerHackathon?" and her response was, "What-athon?" She had never heard of a hackathon before, let alone one designed exclusively for women. But after some research and a bit of curiosity, she decided to take on the adventure. The energy, the support, and the incredible atmosphere among the participants blew her away. She chose to work on the ING Deutschland Challenge, and it turned out to be a perfect match. The ING team was there every step of the way, offering guidance and support throughout the entire event. By the end of the hackathon, not only was her team one of the winners, but she also found herself on the path to a new career. After expressing her interest in ING, the team was quick to arrange interviews, and before she knew it, she had an offer in hand! Today, Honlgin is thriving at ING, where she says the work culture exceeds her expectations. From day one, she felt the strong team spirit and enjoyed the fun, supportive environment. And it’s not just about the work—her new empolyer invests in her growth, providing time and resources to expand her knowledge. Recently, she even had the chance to organize an internal hackathon herself! HerHackathon wasn’t just a one-time experience for her—it’s become a significant part of her journey. She even returned this year as a challenge setter and supporter, „and it felt like coming home“ to a community that has become incredibly meaningful to her. Would she do it all again? Absolutely! We’re so proud to see how HerHackathon helped Honglin find her path and flourish. Thats what we call the „hackathon magic“.
