Did you know this year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is “Moving More”? 🏃♂️ While, this week is a reminder to each and every one of us to look after our well-being, we should take gradual steps throughout the year to deal with daily stressors. CIPFA knows how stressful work environments can be and believes it is important that simple things such as taking regular breaks from sitting at your desk, to taking up sports and exercise can contribute towards boosting your mental wellness. Are you doing something that gets you moving as well as raising money for charity? Whether it’s participating in a ‘Race for Life’, a sponsored walk or bike ride… if you're planning a fundraising event this summer, please tell us about it using the comments box below the post. 🚶♂️ 🚲 #MoveForMentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2024

1 in 5 children face a mental health challenge, yet many wait years for support. These figures should concern us all. In the latest episode of Practical Philanthropy, Kitty Nabarro, founder of Nip in the Bud, shares how her daughter’s struggle with OCD inspired her to create a charity that provides parents and educators with free, accessible resources to identify and address mental health conditions early. ‘Learning will happen a lot better in children if their emotional well-being is in a good space’, Kitty explains. Nip in the Bud’s work emphasises early intervention, providing over 80 short films and expert insights to tackle stigma and reduce the long-term costs of untreated mental health problems. On the challenges for smaller charities, Kitty notes: ‘Funders should see Nip in the Bud as a story rather than numbers.’ A powerful interview that shows how thoughtful giving can create lasting change. Which makes me think: Isn't it time to rethink how we measure and support impact in philanthropy? Supporting Mental Health Matters: Join Me in Making a Difference I'm excited to share that I've created a fundraising page for #NAMIWALKS to support NAMI Dane County, a fantastic organization dedicated to improving mental health and supporting those affected by mental illness. Mental health is a vital component of our overall well-being, yet it remains a topic that is often misunderstood or stigmatized. Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness each year, and many face barriers to accessing the care and support they need. This is where organizations like NAMI Dane County make an incredible impact. NAMI Dane County provides essential services including educational programs, support groups, and advocacy efforts to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of mental illness. Their work fosters understanding, reduces stigma, and offers a lifeline to those who need it most. Here's why your support is so crucial: ◾Raising Awareness: By supporting NAMIWALKS, we shine a light on mental health issues and contribute to breaking down the stigma surrounding them. ◾Providing Support: Your donations help fund vital programs and services that offer direct assistance to individuals and families affected by mental illness. ◾Making a Difference: Every step we take and every dollar we raise brings us closer to a community where mental health is prioritized, and everyone has access to the support they need. I invite you to join me in this important cause. Whether by donating, sharing this post, or participating in the walk, being held at Olin Park on October 5, at noon, your support can make a significant difference. Together, we can create a world where mental health is valued and those in need receive the compassion and resources they deserve. https://lnkd.in/gBeVjYJW Thank you for your support and commitment to this cause. #MentalHealth #NAMIWALKS #SupportNAMI #EndTheStigma #Fundraising #CommunitySupport #MentalIllnessAwareness

This Sunday I will be riding to promote Men's Mental Health Awarness. When it comes to #mentalhealth, we need to do better as a society. Far too often, cries for help are dismissed as attention-seeking behavior. But what if we could change that? Join me through my participation in the Distinguished #GentlemansRide and help create social awareness around these issues. By donating to this cause, you can support The Movember Foundation's mission to create programs that can make a real difference. Whether you've been personally affected or not, every little bit helps. Together, we can make a difference. Consider donating to #DGR2024 at any level: https://lnkd.in/gknqHPjw

At Thorn Baker, we're proud to support Movember's mission to improve men’s mental health and prevent suicide. Too many men are dying too young, and it's time to act.
