Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to join our team for a retreat at the American River 🌊. While the entire experience was unforgettable, the highlight for me was rafting — a first-time adventure that left me with lasting insights. As we navigated the river, each stretch presented a unique challenge. The rapids varied in intensity, requiring us to adapt quickly and stay coordinated. It wasn’t long before I started drawing parallels between our journey on the water and the path we’re carving out as a team and organization. Here are a few lessons I took away from the rapids: 1. Teamwork is everything. Just like paddling in synchrony is crucial to steering through turbulent waters, collaboration is key in overcoming challenges at work. 2. Camaraderie, adaptability, and resilience are non-negotiable. The river throws surprises at you, and much like in our professional journey, staying adaptable and leaning on each other makes all the difference. 3. Control is only part of the equation. There are moments when you have to take charge, and others when you must let go and surrender to the flow — in life and in work, knowing when to do each is vital. This experience left me inspired and with a deeper appreciation for the power of teamwork and resilience, both on the river and in the workplace. 🌊🚀

🌟 Celebrating Milestones: A Journey of Growth and Gratitude 🌟 Today marks another year of the day I came up with idea of ‘The Vertical’ and what a journey it has been! Reflecting on the past year, I’m filled with a sense of gratitude and accomplishment. Each project, challenge, and success has been a step on a path of immense learning and growth. (Why this celebration is more than just a date on the calendar) Every year, this date is a milestone that symbolizes more than just tenure. It represents the challenges we’ve faced, the obstacles we’ve overcome, and the knowledge we’ve gained as a team. It’s a testament to the resilience, dedication, and hard work that each day requires. But here’s what truly makes these milestones worth celebrating: • The People: From mentors who’ve guided me, to colleagues who’ve become friends, it’s the people I’ve met along this journey who’ve made every challenge worthwhile and every success sweeter. • The Growth: Both personal and professional growth that came from pushing boundaries, embracing new ideas, and stepping out of my comfort zone. • The Impact: Knowing that the work we do makes a difference, contributes to our team’s goals, and aligns with my personal values and career aspirations. (And here’s to many more) As I celebrate this day, I am reminded that the journey is far from over. There are more challenges to face, more to learn, and even more opportunities to make an impact. This was my first trek, and while some parts were incredibly tough, every moment was undeniably fascinating! We ascended under the serene light of the moon and descended in broad daylight. Each experience brought its own unique challenges and lessons. Here are a few reflections from the journey: 1️⃣ Resilience: Trekking tested my physical and mental limits, reinforcing the value of staying determined in the face of challenges. 2️⃣ Time Management: A tightly packed schedule added unexpected pressure, reminding me how critical planning is for any endeavor. 3️⃣ Team Spirit: The trek was a testament to the power of collaboration—support from the group made every challenge more manageable. 4️⃣ Cultural Insights: Spending time with the locals revealed the strength and simplicity of life in hill communities—truly humbling. 5️⃣ Gratitude: After experiencing the bare essentials in the mountains, I’ve returned with a deeper appreciation for everyday comforts. This trek was more than just a journey; it was a reminder of life’s many lessons tucked away in unexpected places. I think from now on, I’ll plan a couple more treks, with at least one trek being a must every year. If anyone’s interested in joining, do let me know! 🌄

🎉 Celebrating a Year of New Beginnings! One year ago, I made the bold decision to leave my previous position. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t achieve the progress I wanted. I lacked the support to lead effectively, faced dishonesty, and often felt undermined. This journey taught me five invaluable lessons: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: A supportive company culture is crucial for success. Leading a team and achieving goals without the necessary support and resources is challenging. 𝟮. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆: Experiencing dishonesty from various organizational levels taught me the importance of integrity. Trust and transparency are fundamental to a healthy work environment. 𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗻: Understanding when a situation is no longer beneficial is vital. Recognizing when to move on for personal and professional growth is also important. 𝟰. 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: Despite the toxic environment, I had a fantastic team. Their dedication and talent were highlights of my time there. I miss them and the good moments we shared. 𝟱. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: This experience made me stronger and more resilient. It reminded me that there’s an opportunity to learn and grow even in challenging times. In one year, I have created a much healthier and more productive environment for myself. Plus, I can travel more. 😀 Here’s to new beginnings and striving for a positive and impactful career! 🚀

As I reflect on my journey this year, professionally and personally, I'm feeling so grateful for how far I’ve come, it’s been such a rewarding year filled with growth and opportunities I never expected. But it doesn’t stop there. Growth isn’t about getting comfortable; it’s about constantly pushing ourselves to do more, learn more, and be better. The only way we can grow is by stepping outside of our comfort zones and taking on challenges that test us. I’m excited to keep pushing myself, learning new things, and seeing where the next challenge takes me. 🚀 #GrowthJourney #KeepChallengingYourself #AlwaysLearning

🎊 One Year Anniversary at Morrison: Time flies when you’re scaling operations and slaying deadlines. Reflecting on my first year at MORRISON has been a wild ride of personal growth, teamwork, and just a little bit of imposter syndrome (let’s be honest—sometimes A LOT). From my first solo client call to submitting DOE proposals, I've learned what it means to grow, adapt, and excel under pressure. Taking on new challenges, learning from my incredible team, and asking, “How can this be better?” has defined my journey. (Cue the eye-rolls from the team 😅). Turns out, my Working Genius of Wonder and Discernment was spot-on: an innate drive to improve, streamline, and find the right solutions to move projects forward. 🚀 Highlights of My Year: 🎯 Secured $23MM in grants with an 81% success rate—what a journey! 🤝 Supported my teammates through tight deadlines, crazy schedules, and some intense team bonding experiences. 💡 Launched new processes and updated internal systems, all while navigating the steep learning curve of grant writing. 📝 Conquered major grants like ERME, DOE, and VAPG, sometimes even while balancing personal milestones (like getting married and buying a house!). 🤝 Embraced our culture of support, encouragement, and humility. I’m so grateful to my team for inspiring continuous improvement, creativity, and always bringing their A-game. Together, we've faced challenges, shared many laughs (and maybe a few tears), and transformed ideas into reality. Here's to many more wins, learning experiences, and making the world a better place through our work at Morrison! 🥂✨

🌟 6 months down, countless possibilities ahead! 🌟 I can hardly believe it’s been half a year in my current role! It feels like we’ve achieved so much, yet we’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s possible – the momentum has been incredible, and we’ve already made big changes in such a short time 🚀. But more than anything, this journey has reaffirmed one crucial truth for me: It’s all about relationships. Whether it’s collaborating with key stakeholders, working with my brilliant team, or being in awe of the dedication I see from the amazing teams in the restaurants every time I visit! 👏, it’s these connections that make all the difference. As I look forward to my 6-month review next week (wish me luck! 😅), I’m feeling excited, energised, and most of all, grateful for the fantastic people I get to work with every day. Here’s to the next 6 months of growth, impact, and even stronger relationships! (And in case you’re wondering about the image below… yep, that’s me at a team-building event, completely out of context, holding a crossbow. I’m considering taking it along to my review… 🤔😂) Let’s keep the momentum going! 💪🎉 #6MonthsAndCounting #BuildingRelationships #Teamwork #Growth #Gratitude #OnwardsAndUpwards
