Kinemo can now be used to control Kinova's Jaco robotic arm. In this demo video, a test user grabs a plastic cup, moves it across a table, and places it on top of a stack of cups. Shoulder shrugs selects one of 4 axes of control thanks to a Kinemo One tracer, and head gestures moves the robotic arm along that 2D axis using our Kinemo Connect’s proportional tracer. What do we mean when we ask developers, have you considered the user experience of your technology? This. This is what I mean by the considering the user experience of the technology. Put the thing on and do what you are asking an operator to do with it on. Now, in all fairness, I should probably be wearing a layer of body armor, a bunch of pouches, a helmet and some radios, but you get what I mean. You have to understand how the user is going to engage with your product before you can sell it to them and if you don't have intimate knowledge of how they will use it and how it will interact with the systems they are already carrying, then you need to do some more work. This is a direct snippet of a conversation I had on the NATO DIANA panel this week with some dual use companies. Here I am enjoying considering the use case of the Roam Robotics exoskeleton legs. Wearing them and conducting load carriage activities really helped me understand what use cases these would be appropriate for for operators.
