Lynette Leith MA, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Skills at Hull College, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in this year’s New Year’s Honours. The prestigious accolade has been awarded in recognition of Lynette’s exceptional contribution to the further education (FE) sector and her pivotal role in transforming the college’s fortunes in recent years. Under Lynette’s leadership and direction of the college’s curriculum and skills strategy, it secured a ‘Good’ rating from the most recent Ofsted enhanced skills inspection, in October 2023. Ofsted highlighted the college’s adult provision and personal development as ‘Outstanding’, while its skills and employer engagement were recognised as ‘Strong’ – a testament to Lynette’s focus on aligning the curriculum with the needs of learners and the regional economy. #NewYearsHonours #OBE #education #furthereducation #college https://lnkd.in/eWwXTnRA Debra Gray MBE Rob Lawson OBE Kirstie Cawley Matt Carrington Saskia Blacker

All Saints’ College is proud to be the first school in Western Australia to join the University of Melbourne’s New Metrics program, a commitment we made five years ago. New Metrics is striving to broaden the future of education, but what is it all about? “New Metrics is providing a competency-based education for learners which are the skills and capabilities to allow students to thrive at school and beyond,” says Shannon Armitage, ASC’s Director of Senior School (Teaching and Learning). Recognising the competencies as integral to a holistic education, the New Metrics project and ASC are committed to supporting the teaching, assessing and reporting of the competencies, and seeing ASC students awarded a nationally recognised credential for their learning by the University of Melbourne. Hear more about New Metrics and the College's involvement in the program from Shannon and Jayne Johnston Enterprise Fellow in Melbourne Metrics from the University of Melbourne.

LEADING EDGE COLLABORATION: Yesterday St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy University launched a pathbreaking collaboration that will lead to more pathways of access and afforability for students at both institutions beginning in fall 2024. The two universities are also working to facilitate a seamless transition of qualified students from undergraduate into 18 distinct graduate degree programs that will now be opened up to students at both universities. As well, under this agreement, learners can access expanded certificate programs for workplace upskilling and reskilling and twelve-degree completion programs aimed at adult learners. The goal of the agreement is to expand access to, and the affordability of, quality education for traditional students and adult learners alike. We also see anticipated student benefits that will include reduced time to degree completion (for both undergraduate and graduate degress), early-entry into graduate programs, a strengthened core curriculum, and new opportunities for adult learners to obtain certificates and enhance their skills in the competitive labor market. Moreover, we remain committed to our values-based education grounded in our Catholic tradition with practical application for the workplace and our world. We continue to explore the viability of a strategic combination that would allow for greater administrative and operational efficiences. I am immensely grateful for the leadership of Mount Mercy University President Todd Olson and the MMU Board of Trustees along with the SAU Board of Trustees for the innovative and collaborative work. #EduTogether https://lnkd.in/gc5SNiYM

74% of primary school teachers report declining physical activity levels. Independent research proves that our Active Leader programmes increase attitudes to and participation in activity. In primary schools, for every pupil in year 5/6 we train to be a Junior Active Leader, 3 more children become active - particularly where the trained pupils help children with special educational needs. This happens everywhere, regardless of socio-economic situation. Teachers have reported a 'whole school active' ethos as a result. They have also commented on the confidence our course has provided to primary school teachers who receive very little training in the delivery of PE at primary school level. Our training makes it easier to embed an 'active ethos' on a day to day basis. We are also working with undergraduates training to be primary school teachers, so they can deliver our Junior Active Leader course as part of their school curriculum, when they qualify. All children and young people have said our courses are fun and they feel more confident and inspired to help others be active. We have told the DCMS and Sport England that we are ready to help the ever growing concern of the long term effects of inactivity. We are happy to speak to any headteacher and share our learnings. We can help implement a course within a short timeframe and we provide all the resources so no-one has to stand by a photocopier or spend hours on line downloading materials. We know the quality of what we offer is the highest level, as our fiercest critics are the schools and children we work with. We respect that those on the front line of education are working extremely hard, every day of the school year, and we are not trying to increase their workload. Instead, we are harnessing the incredible abilities of young people to lead themselves and others, using fun activity as the medium. It's a winning, practical solution which tackles an issue continually under discussion. Please feel free to contact penny@activeleaders.co.uk and we will do all we can to help. our website www.activeleaders.co.uk provides further information.

The U.S. News & World Report released the 2025 Best Colleges, and TFC earned multiple recognitions on the badge-eligible list because of its high rankings. In higher education, U.S. News badges are widely recognized as symbols of excellence that are awarded by an unbiased trust agent. Toccoa Falls College is excited to announce the distinctions in the following categories: Best Colleges | Regional Colleges (South) Best Colleges | Social Mobility Best Colleges | Best Value Schools (South) Best Colleges | Best Online Bachelor’s Toccoa Falls College was ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the South. This ranking was based on a wide range of factors, including graduation and retention rate, faculty resources, alumni giving, financial resources per student, student selectivity, social mobility, and third-party expert opinions. Out of 97 schools, TFC ranked #11 in Social Mobility, emerging as one of the top performers in the United States. Social mobility measures the graduation outcomes of economically disadvantaged students who receive the Federal Pell Grant. This means that TFC is successful at enrolling and graduating large proportions of these students. In addition to this, TFC ranked among the Best Value Schools in the South. Toccoa Falls College is proud to offer and equip all students with financial aid resources during the admissions process as well as during their time at the Christian College of Georgia. TFC is established as an affordable education option because 100% of on-campus students receive financial aid. Best Colleges Online recognitions were released earlier this year as well. This award was based on opportunities for online students to readily engage with their instructor and classmates, diverse online learning services and technologies for distance education, faculty credentials and training, and peer assessment. Toccoa Falls College celebrates these recognitions by the U.S. News & World Report in addition to another new year of record-breaking enrollment. Excellence like this is possible because of faculty, staff, students, partners, and leaders who have committed to TFC’s missions of developing Godly character with intellect. This week’s #AlumniThenAndNow highlight features Shavell Rodgers from the De La Salle Institute Class of 2016! Shavell went off to Chicago State University to study management and finance and now works as an operator at Durham Quality Plus! 💙What was DMSF’s impact on you? 💛 Receiving the DMSF scholarship gave me access to a high quality private school education, an amazing and supportive mentor, and a staff that really cared about me receiving not only a quality high school education, but a quality college education as well. Receiving the DMSF scholarship helped me stay focus through high school and opened my eyes up to so many amazing colleges. I learned that I could truly do anything I set my mind to do. All it takes is a little hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice. 💙For you, what does it mean to be a Murphy Scholar? 💛 Being a Murphy Scholar means that you’re not going to let the obstacles and challenges that you might face in life stand in the way of achieving your goals and dreams. Being a Murphy Scholar means that you’re going to use all of the resources and programs that are available to you to have the best high school and college experience that you could possibly have. Being a Murphy Scholar means that you’re going to give back and pay it forward to help all of the new scholars that come after you. 💙What advice do you have for current Murphy Scholars? 💛To never be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. It’s totally okay to approach people and put yourself in an environment that might be uncomfortable for you. It’s only going to help grow your network and open up amazing opportunities for you. Thank you for encouraging us to step outside of our comfort zones! #35YearsOfMurphyScholars #AlumniThen&Now #HighSchoolScholarship #EducationAccess
