You guys have heard people talk about ethical storytelling. Umm, yes, right. Big sort of hot topic in in the nonprofit world, the last, I don't know, eight or nine years, but nobody seems to be able to actually define what that means. I get we get clients all the time. They're like ethical storytelling is very important to us and we go, OK, cool, what does that mean to you? I don't know, but it's very important to. And so we kind of took it on ourselves to at least give ourselves some guidelines. You know, if if we have somebody we're working with that has their own, that's great. But one of the challenges that it is a little bit maybe controversial with some people is nonprofits have typically focused on like the end user, the client, right? Like the the *** stories, the sad stories, the pull at the heartstrings kind of things. And made that the focus of the story, the character in the story. But the reality of it is the people you're trying to reach, if you're trying to get donations, if you're trying to get volunteers, they don't identify with that person in the story. So logically it doesn't make sense. What they identify with is the other people who have given, the other people who have volunteered. You as the nonprofit, you're the character in this story. And as much as we've been trained in that world to be humble and not make it about us, it's ending up biting ourselves in the **** because people aren't looking to nonprofits as the experts. And so we have to set nonprofits up as the experts that people believe are worth investing in because if they don't see you that way, they're not going to invest in you. People don't invest in Apple. But because of the iPhone users, they invest in Apple because they developed the iPhone, right? They figure out what the users need. Now you can tell the stories of iPhone users and how these devices have helped change their lives and tell good stories. You can tell the stories of these end users, these clients, whatever it might be. But the framing of it really needs to be about how we are the experts out there trying to solve these problems. And nonprofits have traditionally done a really terrible job of that.
