With a recent study claiming it may take 300 years to achieve full #GenderEquality, it is clear we must accelerate our efforts. One such way is to empower women in work by celebrating the success of female leaders, therefore benefitting everybody as the overall world of work becomes more transparent, inclusive and free of the harmful toxic biases that surround everybody’s daily lives. To accomplish this, businesses must avoid a “one size fits all” approach to leadership development. They should acknowledge potential biases and ensure female leaders will not suffer from them, all the while providing bespoke and personalised support that is tailored to their needs. #WomeninWork #GenderEquality

Is your company actively working towards gender equity? Now, be real with me, is it really? Some businesses have a lot of policies around it, but it's often just words with few actions to back it up. 79% of Australian employers (with 100+ staff) report that they have policies and strategies around gender equality in their workplace, but only: - 22% have female CEO's - 37% have key management personnel that are women - 21.7% have a gender pay gap *WGEA data I am not saying we should automatically put women into leadership roles to even up the numbers, as that could be setting them up to fail if they're not ready or qualified. I believe we need to start giving more women the skills and confidence EARLY in their careers, to become successful future leaders. In a recent Woman Rising survey of 1200 Australian women, 74% said they would leave their organisation if their career development was not invested in by their current employer. Take action now, rather than just talking about it. And invest in your young talent, who show potential. Ways you can do that include: - Help them find a strong mentor (internally or externally) who can support their journey - Take the time to understand their goals and help create a plan to achieve them - Invest in leadership coaching to give them a dedicated resource. If you're looking for a great program, read more about Step Up - a unique curated training program, based on 23+ years of research, experience and knowledge, specifically for young women in business, giving them the skills and confidence to become future female leaders. Step Up delivers 1-1 coaching, group workshops, and keynote/event presentations, all offered online and in person, globally. And most importantly - it actually works and produces tangible measurable results. https://lnkd.in/gQdvjKFq #futurefemaleleaders #womeninbusiness #femaleleaders #leadershipcoaching

Overcoming Gender Bias: Changing the power dynamic for Women Leaders 👩💼 . Workplaces globally still grapple with gender bias. This can result in women leaders facing unconscious bias despite their capabilities. . Key Biases & Examples: . 🟢 Confidence Bias: A woman's assertiveness is deemed "bossy," while a man's is "confident." Example: A woman's idea during a meeting is ignored, but a similar one from a man is applauded. . 🟢 Maternal Wall Bias: Women are seen as less dedicated due to potential childcare needs. Example: A woman misses a promotion because decision-makers assume she won't have time. . 🟢 Affinity Bias: People prefer those similar to them. Example: A male manager constantly assigns major projects to men, ignoring qualified women. . Not many people pay attention to it but, it is a fact that women bring unique perspectives and leadership styles that enhance problem-solving capabilities, stimulating innovation. . 7moThis is just brilliant. One of many things I have learned is that our negative self perceptions cannot usually be trusted. How we see ourselves is not how others see us. We underestimate ourselves all of the time as women. Our limiting beliefs were given to us from a young age often from well meaning care givers. They are beliefs and not the truth!
