FEATURED: Slow Fashion: Laura Bonnell of The Letterman Co On Why They Are Embracing Slow Fashion and Renewable Consumption I was recently interviewed by Medium magazine about how The Letterman Co is embracing slow fashion. It’s well known that the fashion industry is one of the most environmentally and socially impactful businesses in the world. One of the key actions the fashion industry and consumers can take is to ‘slow the flow’. We need to buy less, take care of our clothes, and use them longer. There’s a reason you see Collegiate varsity jackets, sweatshirts and pennants from the 1940s, 50s and 60s at vintage markets. It’s because clothing was designed to last, to be cherished, and to be passed onto to someone else when they were no longer needed. During my time designing for Ralph Lauren I cultivated a passion for creating authentically designed garments that were beautifully made. I have carried that passion with me throughout my career, and now into designing for The Letterman Co. 🌍 On this World Fashion Day, I'm reminded of the incredible influence fashion has, not just as an art form but as a powerful business force. Fashion is more than aesthetics. It is a global industry that drives economies, creates jobs, and shapes cultural identities. As we acknowledge this impact, it's crucial to also consider the responsibility that comes with it. That's why I’m proud to support sustainable fashion practices in my professional and personal life. The dress I'm wearing is an upcycled piece by Velements, a local brand that exemplifies how sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand. By supporting businesses that prioritize eco-friendly practices, we can foster a fashion industry that not only thrives but also leads the way in environmental stewardship. Let's continue to champion a future where fashion becomes more sustainable 🌱👗 📸 atelieruldeportrete.ro #WorldFashionDay #SustainableBusiness #UpcycledFashion #Velements #EcoFriendlyFashion #BusinessWithPurpose

In a world where fashion choices often fly by in a blur, it’s time to pause and ask: are our choices sustainable? Are they intentional? Choosing fashion that lasts, that respects people and the planet. Fast fashion might feel convenient, but it often leaves a trail of waste and harm. Slow fashion, on the other hand, celebrates craftsmanship, values quality, and respects every hand that’s part of the process. Imagine a wardrobe built on pieces you love, that tell a story, that help sustain the communities and cultures we’re all part of. The choice between fast and slow is a chance to step away from the throwaway culture and into something that truly matters and as correctly said by Howard Zinn 'Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world'. #SlowFashion #ConsciousChoices #FashionWithPurpose #HumaneCollective

Jodie Haydon Breaks The Mold, Leading The Change In Fashion Sustainability Have you ever found yourself staring at your wardrobe, filled with clothes but nothing to wear? You’re not alone. Each piece seems to whisper tales of occasions past, and yet, they feel like remnants of a former self, no longer fitting the narrative of who you are today. This, my friend, is where the beautiful journey of upcycling begins—a path not just of transforming clothes but of redefining our relationship with fashion. Let me share a story that beautifully illustrates this transformation. Imagine a stunning black sequin gown, worn by Jodie Haydon. But here’s the twist — as a public figure, she chose to wear it not once, but twice! “I love being able to show that a dress can take many forms,” - Jodie Haydon Reinventing the design to tell a new story, encapsulating the essence of upcycling. It’s not merely about recycling; it’s an art form that extends the life of a garment, allowing it to evolve with us. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gfn8Ej5Z

The Value of Second-hand Fashion: A Choice for the Future In a world increasingly focused on sustainability and conscious consumerism, second-hand fashion stands out as a powerful way to make a difference. Buying preloved clothing not only helps reduce waste but also supports a circular economy, where garments are given a second life instead of ending up in landfills. 🌍 As someone passionate about second-hand fashion, I’ve seen first hand how preloved clothing can inspire creativity, foster individuality, and save money—all while making a positive impact on the planet. Every piece of clothing tells a story, and by choosing second-hand, we’re adding a new chapter to that story. This movement isn’t just about the clothes—it’s about shifting perspectives. It challenges the fast fashion norm and encourages us to think differently about how we shop, style, and value our wardrobes. Whether you’re a seasoned thrifter or just starting your journey, there’s so much to discover. Let’s champion sustainable fashion together—because every choice matters. 💚 How has second-hand fashion changed your approach to style or sustainability? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 👗♻️
