Introducing our third and final panellist for our screening 🎬 of X Trillion next week! Nick Doman is the CEO and Co-Founder of Ocean Bottle 🌊. He wants to change the way businesses work, believing that 1% for the planet isn’t enough to tackle the social and environmental problems we face. In his view, impact shouldn’t be relegated to a by-product of a company’s operations, and purpose needn’t be at the expense of profit 💰. He believes that truly transparent and impactful companies will grow the fastest, especially when they harness tech for good. Ocean Bottle is already leading by example, having hit a turnover of £1m in its first year, while being profitable and contributing 17% of revenue to plastic collection 🙌. Nick previously worked on the investments team of the UK’s largest venture builder, Blenheim Chalcot, and was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2020 🏆. He has tri-citizenship of the UK, Australia, and Canada, and his love for the environment has stemmed directly from exploring these countries’ beautiful landscapes ⛰️ and the ocean that surrounds them. After the screening, we'll be speaking to Nick, as well Eleanor Church Lark Rise Pictures (XTrillion) and Avril Greenaway (Cleaner Seas Group®, Cleaner Seas Project®), so you can learn more about the plastic crisis and the positive work being done to tackle this global issue. You'll have the chance to speak to all of the panellists and other attendees during the networking session, with cocktails by Aluna Rum 🍸. ➡️ Swipe for the event details. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gxp5nfSX And we also have a special surprise for attendees! Stay tuned. Summer Series: #MyLocalCircularLife Something that many of my LinkedIn connections are unaware of, is that my foray into the #CircularEconomy stems from 20+ years of being active in my small town of #Nesodden (pop. 20,000) working with others in our community to support the better use of our collective resources. I usually post about my local work on facebook, and reserve linkedIn for the global work, but recently as connections and partners from around the world are coming to the #OsloRegion and want to connect in person, I take them on a little tour around Nesodden on electric bikes to see how we and others are putting the CE into practice - so it is time to bridge it all ;) For almost two decades, my husband Dag Reynolds and I have been using our community as a testbed for #CircularInnovation and learning as much about what does NOT WORK, as we do from what DOES WORK!.. We have learned a lot about Food Systems, Libraries of Things, Maritime Cleanups, Procurement, Plastic Pollution, CSAs, Repair Cafes, Electric Bike lending programmes, Makerspaces, Circular Business Models, Products as a Service, Public/Private Partnerships, co-working spaces and more... So over the summer, I thought I would share some of this as a change of pace from the #Global work that I tend to post about on LinkedIn. To kick things off, I am sharing a link to our local NGOs website #Nesoddliv https://nesoddliv.no - which basically translates to "life on the point of the tip" as our community is an amazing peninsula smack dab in the middle of the #OsloFjord. We have a partnership with our municipality to support collaborative efforts to accelerate the Circular Economy transition via a #CircularLearningArena, I will share the concrete ways and case studies on how we do this in the coming weeks :) I would very much like to hear from others about what they do locally. Feel free to use #MyLocalCircularLife on a post and let's learn and be inspired together! Fun Fact: many of my local connections have no idea I work on the Circular Economy globally ;) Oscar Honeyman-Novotny Steinar Dahlen Esther Gilen Nesteren Hasani Odd Fylling Andrew Bennett Ole Andreas Seipajaervi Øyvind Solum Nina Sandberg Tor Lindberg Stefan Kaufman Tijn Tjoelker Audrey Bayens Nicole T Garofano, PhD, AAIP Vesna Lavtizar, PhD Yame Nkgowe Gene Homicki Ken W. 🌍 Today is #EarthDay - a day to raise awareness of the need to protect the planet's natural resources and to remind us of the importance of environmental conservation. It's also a day to celebrate the achievements of environmental movements. Every year since 1970, 1 billion people in 193+ countries assemble to advocate for a healthier planet and brighter future. 🌱 The motto for 2024 is 'Planet vs. Plastic'. Earth Day's goal is to reduce the production of all plastics by 60% by 2040. ♻️ One way Viennese innovators are doing their bit to safeguard our planet for future generations is by embracing the circular economy model. Companies such as MATR, LIVIN farms, Refurbed and Arkeon are pioneering new ways of thinking about #recycling and reusing, rather than furthering a mindset of overconsumption and wastefulness. Austria's largest energy supplier, Wien Energie, has built a pilot plant to turn waste into energy through incineration. Exciting news in OPF✨ We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with Norwegian innovation cluster Clean Oceans. This new partnership is a step forward in our collective efforts to combat ocean plastic pollution🌊 Clean Oceans, a merger of Marine Recycling Cluster and Nosca Clean Oceans, represents more than 80 member organizations, making it Norway's largest network dedicated to tackling plastic pollution in our oceans. By combining autonomous and stationary solutions, the goal is to clean up and reuse plastic from the ocean. Through sustainable solutions, waste can gain value and be turned into new products. Our collaboration is expected to create a robust framework for sharing expertise, accessing complementary skills, and exploring Nordic and European funding sources. Together, we aim to strengthen our position in reducing sources of plastic pollution and promoting cross-sector cooperation and value chains🤝🌍 #sustainability #partnerships #nordics #oceanplastic

It might not be #EarthDay anymore, but at Arkeon, every day is Earth Day 🌍 Why? Because our tech focuses on solving problems that result from two high-emitting sectors essential to society’s livelihood: #agriculture and #heavyindustry. How? We turn CO2 into food. At Arkeon, we're tackling the future of ingredient production AND how to significantly reduce emissions...before they ever make it to the atmosphere. Our solution represents a #paradigmshift in the relationship between the #decarbonization of heavy industry and food production. By reimagining #CO2emissions as a valuable resource for #ingredient production, we're not just reducing heavy industry’s environmental footprint; we're laying the foundation for a more #sustainable, #resilient, and #equitable #foodsystem. Thank you to Vienna Business Agency for the mention and kudos to our tech peers working hard on making the #circulareconomy a reality ♻

I often share posts / likes/ my thoughts on Planet Protector Packaging because I truly believe they are an extraordinary company with an amazing team. However, this video from Kiarne Treacy does more than words ever could. Take just 2.5 minutes to witness the innovation, natural fibre recycling, and circular economy solutions at their finest. This is more than just insulation (food, pharma, building, acoustic) —it's a movement, and this video captures the scale and genius behind it. Don't miss it. #CircularEconomy #SustainablePackaging #Innovation #NaturalFibreRecycling #acoustic #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EcoInnovation #GreenManufacturing #WasteNot #PlanetProtector
