We are extremely happy to announce that The Mill has won gold for Art Fund's 'National Art Pass', in the Use of Data category in the 2024 BIMA Awards ✨ This world-first project from Art Fund and The Mill highlighted how people's brains are stimulated when they experience art in museums and galleries. This incredible technology takes us one step further in understanding the fundamental value of art, cementing The Mill's Experience Team as the first to visually demonstrate the impact of art on human brainwaves, in real-time. Great to see my alma mater hosting exhibitions of this type! 🟠 👁️🗨️ The theme of "seeing the unseeable" and the use of data is a theme that defined a solid decade of work at HUSH - from the scale of a poster, to lobby-scale art installations and placemaking. Yet, at this point "data viz" has become aging nomenclature - the result of so much visualization for the sake of visualization itself, not for human impact. 🧠 What's more interesting is how the "seeing of unseeable data" can impact our behaviors, change the way we think, what we feel and how we act. We're rapidly applying these ideas to projects at the scale of airport terminals and mixed use developments. More data, more space, more impact. See some legacy work: 🌞 Turning an organization's commitment to net zero engineering into a sustainability mirror and workplace motivator (https://lnkd.in/eSvVU7_v) 🌐 Using the data of the world's largest mobility organization to inspire guests with scale and impact (https://lnkd.in/ewX33Ynz) 🟢 Using productivity data to change workforce behaviors and influence a new workplace culture (https://lnkd.in/eCZjrfzf)
In modern life, data is so ubiquitous, it's practically invisible — but should it be? ArtCenter’s exhibition Seeing the Unseeable, opening Thursday, brings together 20 years of work from 16 artists + designers at the forefront of using data visualization as a springboard for creative expression and cultural critique. Experience custom algorithms as large-scale installations, the beauty of threatened coral reefs as intricate stitches of crochet, storm systems as suspended titanium cloud sculptures, and much more. Seeing the Unseeable is part of Getty's PST ART: Art & Science Collide, a landmark series of exhibitions in partnership with leading museums and institutions across Southern California. 🟠 Seeing the Unseeable: Data, Design, Art 📅 On view 9/19—2/15, 2025 | Opening Reception: 9/19, 6 PM 📍 Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery, ArtCenter, 1700 Lida Street, Pasadena https://bit.ly/3B9yhs4

Slow Art Day 2024 takes place tomorrow. How are you taking part this year? Please share how you're getting involved in the comments. Slow Art Day is a global annual event encouraging us to look at and discuss art slowly. This year it takes place on Saturday 13 April. The idea is simple: look at a few works of art for 5-10 minutes each. 🐌 You can do this on your own, with a group of friends or as part of an event at a museum. 🐌 Or participate online in a guided session or opt for a recorded video (see YouTube for lots of slow art inspiration). 🐌 You can choose which artworks to look at or let yourself be guided by what the museum has chosen. 🐌 Some venues select five pieces of art, others focus on just one or two, and others offer yet more options. If you're participating, tell us in the comments 👇 what you plan to do tomorrow! Or maybe you're a host? Share your Slow Art Day event below 👇 Use the comments here to spread the word about Slow Art Day and get involved. I'll also put some handy links for more info in the comments. cc: phyl terry #slowartday2024 #slowart #slowlooking

We are delighted to announce the SAM ART SG Fund: a new benefactor-led fund supporting annual acquisitions for Singapore Art Museum’s permanent collection of international and Southeast Asian contemporary art. Launching at the third edition of ART SG in 2025, the SAM ART SG Fund will allocate SGD $150,000 for acquiring artworks by leading and emerging artists at the international art fair. These acquisitions will become part of SAM’s permanent collection, reinforcing the museum’s role as a node for contemporary art and contribute to a culture of philanthropy within Singapore. The Fund is made possible through the generous contributions of arts patrons Carmen Yixuan Li, Pure Yichun Chen, and other anonymous donors, with advisory support from Zong Han, Cultural Strategist, and Shuyin Yang, Fair Director ART SG. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to enhancing the museum’s international collection while fostering meaningful and enduring partnerships between its founding patrons, the Singapore Art Museum, and ART SG. It also represents a significant contribution to the growth and vibrancy of Singapore’s arts ecosystem. Recurring annually for an initial commitment period of three years, the Fund will support SAM’s acquisition of significant artworks at each edition of ART SG. Following their acquisition, artworks will be made available for public viewing through SAM’s exhibition programming. This dedicated effort highlights the commitment of participating donors and all involved parties to fostering visual arts education and expanding public access to art in Singapore. Quick question for #museum, #artgallery and science centre colleagues. I am looking for examples of really good games featured on the websites of museums, art galleries or science centres. Can you recommend any? I'm looking for examples that are a) easy and intuitive to play; b) rich in content but not overloaded with text; and c) fun (if you like that kind of thing). Two of my absolute favourites are the Science Museum's Launchball - https://lnkd.in/eaq36QfS And the V&A's Design a Wig - https://lnkd.in/eUEjHE85 What are your favourites? #interactivedesign #visitorexperience #interactivegames

The temporary exhibition developed by the MEMORISE_EU project at the Gedenkstätte Bergen-Belsen displays prisoner art, testimonies and material objects that give voice to unheard voices 🎙️and assist visitors in exploring the many layers of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp‘s history. It demonstrates the potential of digital technology to provide access to heritage of Nazi persecution through 3D models, augmented reality, digital platforms, interactive explorers and digital storytelling. 🖌️Users can explore a painting of the former prisoner Ervin Abadi by zooming into details, examining compositional layers and deriving historical information from Abadi‘s visualisation of the camp. The interactive story „Ceija Stojka‘s Paintings“ allows users to learn about the memories of the Roma Holocaust survivor, artist and activist‘s memories through her unique paintings. #visualhistory #digitalhistory #digitalheritage #digitalmemory #holocausteducation

When designing exhibitions, why stop at inspiring visitors? Why not go all the way and generate a sense of AWE?! 'Museums, art galleries, and heritage sites are ideal environments to cultivate these moments of awe' according to Amelia Bloore, Head of Interpretation at Nissen Richards Studio, as she seeks to deepen our appreciation of the power of awe and investigate how to evoke it in this interesting new essay for A Museum For Now - https://lnkd.in/ekEZMH2u
