"Unlike traditional planning approaches that primarily focus on addressing immediate issues, this foresight map goes further by identifying external trends, forces, risks, and opportunities that we are likely to face on the path to a more child-centered future. The map features ten forecasts for the year 2035, describing potential outcomes based on various strategic choices and actions that stakeholders may take over the next decade, within the broader context of social, natural and technological changes that are already influencing our present conditions. By projecting the potential impacts of short- and long-term actions over a ten-year horizon, the map encourages changemakers in the child-centered ecosystem to consider the broader implications of their decisions on communities, taking into account community agency and power, and the rate at which conditions for children, families, and communities may improve." https://lnkd.in/ebKC3aym

In our journey to reshape narratives, we've learned that stories are not just stories—they are catalysts for change. In a five-part series over the next few days, we’ll explore key insights that guide our efforts in reshaping narratives for a brighter, more inclusive future for Arkansas. 1️⃣ Stories Matter: Voices from local communities, especially in southern and rural areas, are crucial but often unheard. Supporting platforms that elevate these voices is not just necessary; it's transformative. 2️⃣ Nonprofits Are Key: Nonprofit organizations have the potential to amplify mission-aligned issues and connect with community storytellers. However, many lack the necessary communications resources to make these connections effectively. 3️⃣ Doing > Understanding: Understanding narrative change is one thing; implementing it is another. Effective narrative change requires a place-based strategy and deep relationship-building efforts. It’s about doing the hard work, not just using the buzzwords. Our approach goes beyond mere investments; it's about strategically reading and interpreting the ecosystems around us, fostering relationships, and building capacities. Stay tuned as we highlight key narrative change insights and promote a narrative that focuses on possibilities and solutions rather than problems. #EquityinAction #NarrativeChange #WRF #RelentlessPursuit

During the pandemic, a school official shared in a video: "Lately, I've had many, many individuals come up to me while I'm grocery shopping to share their opinions on what we should be doing differently." While I empathize that 2020-2021 were years with unique challenges around community engagement, I think we can also agree: A community engagement strategy that relies on chance encounters at public locations is not the ideal way to build trust. In my post below, I share of a client who truly is dedicated to designing a community engagement strategy to build trust. It's such a cool and rewarding process to *get* to design an ideal engagement strategy - that it's motivated me to write my next blog some of the most effective community engagement strategies. - Strategies that are relational, not transactional. - Strategies that reduce bias. - And strategies that focus on opportunities for co-creation of solutions. But before I start the blog, I'm curious. ➡️Do you find that most of the organizations with which you work have an opportunistic style of community engagement? ➡️Or, are you seeing a lot of good examples of intentional community engagement by organizations? Thanks for sharing.
What a gorgeous early morning view of the Ohio River from yesterday’s community focus group in Marietta, OH. It’s really rewarding to see a client show genuine interest in what communities and partner organizations have to say, and identify specific ways to directly incorporate that feedback into programming. Perhaps it’s easier to listen to communities if you are a small nonprofit who is fully embedded into the community where you work. But it takes more planning and targeted engagement when you have a wider geography that your organization is covering. In these cases, it takes intention to truly listen to communities and design engagement sessions in a way that’s built around relationships and building trust. We’re grateful that Sustainable Economies was brought on as a partner to facilitate these important engagement sessions.

There are more than a few reasons why life here in Los Angeles is grand but one of them is the inspiration I get from the small but mighty non-profits that continue to make our city better. One is Public Matters, founded by Mike Blockstein and Reanne Estrada. If you want a break from the news cycle, have a look at this article titled "Conspiratorial Joy Lives Here."
