Earlier this month, when Poonam Pandey, in an act of controversy, stepped up for the cause of cervical cancer, the world sat up and took notice – for better or for worse. Poonam's recent stunt for Cancer Awareness sparked a fiery debate. It's not just about the bold move, but the strategy behind it. The digital agency Schbang, known for its work with MSD, claimed it was a pro bono effort to raise awareness. But here's the twist: MSD has been eyeing a government tender to sell their vaccine in India, a vaccine that's yet to receive full approval. This raises eyebrows. Was it a genuine act of charity or a clever marketing ploy? 🤔 Schbang's involvement was confirmed when they acknowledged their part in the campaign with Hauterrfly, expressing regret for any distress caused. Their goal was to spread awareness and save lives. Noble, right? But the plot thickens when you discover that the website mentioned in the campaign was registered six months prior to the stunt. This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment act; it was a calculated move. Now, MSD is stepping back from their association with Schbang, and the government is scrutinizing the event. It's a reminder that in the fight against diseases like cancer, transparency is as crucial as the message itself. So, let's talk. Do you think such shockvertising tactics are effective in raising awareness, or do they cross a line? Can the end justify the means if it leads to a greater good? Share your thoughts below, let's keep the conversation going.💬

November is #PancreaticCancerAwareness Month. It's a time to support those affected by pancreatic cancer, one of the most challenging cancers. This disease is serious, but so are our efforts to fight it. Here’s how we can all help: #KnowYourRisk Talk about the risk factors for pancreatic cancer, such as family history, smoking, diabetes, and pancreatitis. Knowing these risks is important. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) offers excellent resources to help us learn more. #EarlyDetectionSavesLives Symptoms of pancreatic cancer can be hard to notice, like stomach pain, weight loss, or jaundice. Awareness of these signs can lead to faster medical help. Let’s Win! Pancreatic Cancer (letswinpc.org) and the National Pancreas Foundation (pancreasfoundation.org) are doing important work to spread this message. #SupportPancreaticCancer Support can take many forms—donating, volunteering, or just being there for someone. Organizations like the Lustgarten Foundation (lustgarten.org) and Project Purple (projectpurple.org) help families affected by this disease—even small donations matter. #PancreaticCancerResearch Funding research can help improve survival rates. By supporting groups like the Cancer Research Institute (cancerresearch.org) and American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) (aacr.org), we help scientists find better treatments and possibly an early detection test. Every dollar helps. #HopeForACure Hope drives our fight against pancreatic cancer. Sharing stories, contributing, and raising awareness brings us closer to finding a cure. #PurpleRibbon This month, wear a purple ribbon. It may be a simple gesture, but it shows our commitment to fighting pancreatic cancer and supporting those facing it. Let’s turn awareness into action this #PancreaticCancerAwareness Month. We owe it to those we’ve lost and those who are still battling this disease. #ForMyMom #PancreaticCancerAwareness

April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month and Movember, the world's leading men's health charity, has released new research spotlighting young men's relationship with their testicles. Through its "Know Thy Nuts" campaign, Movember is encouraging men to regularly check their pair and know what their normal is. With testicular cancer being the most frequently diagnosed cancer among young men, it's crucial that men feel confident and comfortable going to a doctor if an abnormality presents itself. This study was fielded by Dynata who surveyed a total of 4,000 young males aged as young as 16 years old and up to 40 years across 4 different markets (Australia, Canada, UK and the USA) from February 23 until March 4, 2024. Top findings from Movember's study in UK are: ✅ 61% of men weren’t aware that testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men aged 15 – 40 ✅ A fifth (20%) admitted that they wouldn’t feel confident knowing how to check their nuts, with three in seven (43%) saying they probably would resort to looking online ✅ Over half (61%) claimed they’d make an appointment to see their doctor, with 20% sharing with a family member they trust ✅ When asked about the barriers to why men wouldn't openly go and seek help from a doctor if they notice something out of the ordinary with their testicles, nearly a quarter (24%) said they wouldn’t due to embarrassment, with almost one in five (19%) not going until it got really serious Read more on why it’s important to "Know Thy Nuts" and how to do that via the link in the comments 👇 #testicularcancerawarenessmonth #youngmalesinsights #poweredbydynata

We’d like to warmly welcome all of our new followers and thank you for joining our mission to make early detection and effective treatment of ovarian cancer a reality. For those who are just getting to know us, we’d love to take a moment to properly introduce ourselves. Who Are We? The Joan Rotondi Hope & Empowerment Foundation was created out of love, compassion, and humility. As a close-knit family of three (Aldo, Joan and Mia), we always put each other first, guided by kindness and forgiveness. Joan, a beloved wife and devoted mother, saw each day as an opportunity for joy and embraced life with an open heart. Losing her to ovarian cancer made us realize how many women face similar challenges without early detection or proper resources. This foundation honors Joan by raising awareness, offering support, and empowering others to find hope in their darkest moments. How We Got Here Joan’s experience exposed a harsh truth about the healthcare system: too often, doctors take a "wait and see" approach, dismissing patient concerns or delaying crucial testing. In Joan’s case, this led to a devastating late-stage diagnosis. If healthcare professionals were more aware of available testing and took her concerns seriously, her outcome could have been different. As you read this, ask yourself—how many times have you heard this same story from family or friends with similar tragic outcomes? This failure in the system should alarm us all—if not, provoke outrage. What We've Learned Early detection is not only key but also available for changing outcomes, preventing families from being blindsided by advanced diagnoses. Cancer risk assessment tools can make all the difference in a prognosis. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to life-saving tests and resources, like those we sought for Joan. The critical resource we lacked was early detection, and by the time Joan was diagnosed, we were advised to proceed directly to palliative care. Instead, we used the available resources to extend her life, turning a death sentence into cherished time. Even in cases of late detection, our programs aim to provide hope and guidance, improving survival rates and empowering families to face these challenges with greater strength and resilience. -- Inspired to help? This November, we're proud to have teamed up Prostate Cancer UK, the UK's leading men's health charity. It’s a startling reality that 1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer, with higher risks for Black men, men over 50, and those with a family history of the disease. Often, men discover they have prostate cancer too late, due to a lack of symptoms and routine screening. By partnering with Prostate Cancer UK, our aim is to reach more men with the crucial message that they need to assess their risk. This can be done in just 30 seconds, by using their quick and easy risk checker, which consists of three simple questions. By sharing the QR code to Prostate Cancer UK's risk checker, we hope to raise awareness and encourage men to be more proactive about their health. You may have already seen some of the eye-catching creative popping up on our social channels and in stores already, but if not, be sure to look out for it over the coming weeks and let us know what you think. In addition to promoting the risk checker, throughout the month customers will also be able to donate at checkout on the CT website and at till point in our UK stores. These donations will go a long way in supporting Prostate Cancer UK's research efforts to transform testing, treatment, and care, as well as their push for a national screening programme. Such a programme could save thousands of lives by providing regular, accurate tests for men at risk. Check your risk in less then 30 seconds: https://lnkd.in/eqcJ7HCf #ProstateCancer #MensHealth

🎀 October is Pink October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎀 Yesterday, I had the privilege of welcoming former colleagues from MUA Life, who shared valuable insights on the importance of having cancer insurance, especially for women. Their message resonated: protecting ourselves against cancer, particularly breast cancer, is crucial. Let's spread awareness, encourage proactive health measures qnd prioritize well being. How can we make a difference? that's what I learned: 🩷 Get Informed– Learn about risk factors, signs, and the importance of regular screenings. 🩷 Show Support – Wear pink, share stories, and be there for those affected. Small gestures can make a big difference. 🩷 Take Action – Schedule your screening, encourage others to do the same, and donate to reputable organizations funding breast cancer research! #Emcar #PinkOctober #BreastCancerAwareness #TogetherWeFight

Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, begins in the inner lining of the bowel and is often preceded by polyps, which can develop into invasive cancer if undetected. Although it’s more common in older adults, young-onset bowel cancer is on the rise. In Australia, it's one of the deadliest cancers for people aged 25-44. Early detection can save lives. Look out for symptoms like persistent changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, or blood in your stool. Don’t wait—get screened early and talk to your doctor if anything feels off. You’re not too young to be aware of bowel cancer risks! Find out more at bowelcanceraustralia.org and take charge of your health today. #BowelCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #HealthAwareness #CancerPrevention
