CONSTRUCTION OF THE HYDROGEN FERRIES HAS BEGUN We are pleased to announce that the first steel for the world's largest hydrogen ferries was cut yesterday at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey. As is well known, Myklebust Verft will build the two ferries that we have developed together with Torghatten Nord, but first, the steel and hull will be produced at Cemre Shipyard. The ferries, which will operate in the challenging sea areas of the Outer Vestfjord, have been developed with a multi-hybrid propulsion system and will refuel with green hydrogen in Bodø. Annually, CO2 emissions on this weather-exposed Lofoten route will be reduced by 26,500 tons. We look forward to the work ahead together with our project partners: Torghatten Nord AS Myklebust Verft SEAM GreenH AS https://lnkd.in/dHZabykw

Exciting strides towards sustainable shipping! Bahamas-headquartered Veer has chosen Germany’s Fosen Shipyard to build its first two wind-powered and hydrogen-assisted container vessels, set to launch by 2027. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step towards zero-emission maritime transport. With an innovative hull design, DynaRig sails, and hydrogen fuel cells, these vessels promise not only to reduce the carbon footprint but also to lead the way in eco-friendly shipping solutions. Veer's collaboration with Bernhard Schulte Ship Management and FutureShips highlights the strong partnerships driving this green transformation. Supported by a €50M letter of intent from Prow Capital, this project is poised to revolutionize the container shipping industry and set new standards in environmental responsibility. . . When assets are removed or renewed, there is often the need to fill voids that remain. Geobear solutions are used to fill disused voids quickly with minimal access requirements with ultra fast curing times. This example in Finland encapsulates the benefits of Geobear's approach on a rail culvert. Our method also permits easy excavation and removal of material if needed. #voidfilling #void #noninvasive #geopolymer #culverts #rail #railway

Real connections spark real solutions! Visiting our clients on-site is a game-changer. It lets us truly understand what they need, allowing us to tailor our expertise to help them even better. In the past few weeks, we have visited: 🤝 Oceanco in Zwijndrecht and Alblasserdam, seeing our superyacht projects come to life and learning about future collaborations as a proud co-maker of this superyacht builder. Mariëlle Röttgering Erwin Kooistra Marijn Schilperoort 🤝 ABC Diesel, renowned for manufacturing two-stroke diesel engines in Ghent, showcased their dedication to sustainable manufacturing. It was inspiring to witness our client's efforts firsthand and engage in valuable networking at Anglo Belgian Corporation. Tim Berckmoes 🤝 Flanders Hydraulics is a centre of expertise for research and advice on hydraulic, nautical, sediment-related and hydrological topics. The highlight was getting to take control of the helm in the ship maneuvering simulators. With a virtual journey through the Port of Antwerp, we not only learned a lot but also had a great deal of fun. Katrien Eloot Steven Kaptein 🤝 Flanders Make, a research institute specializing in the make industry, is whom we're currently collaborating with on a project concentrating on waterborne electric energy storage. We're working together to gain a clearer understanding of energy consumption and exploring how battery technology can evolve within operational constraints and charging infrastructure. Clear to say we’re enjoying the engineering challenges this presents and are curious to see what will float the electric boat! Hugo Steep 🤝EDR Antwerp Shipyard. The ship repair yard, including its own dry docks, repair shops, and supply warehouse, is a valuable treasure of maritime history. The revaluation of this place is downright impressive and continues to resonate. It's not every day that one gets to stand on the dock floor next to a majestic container ship, lifted out of its natural habitat. What a fantastic day! Philippe Trouillard Thank you all very much for the warm welcome and the pleasant cooperation. #Maritime #Offshore #BetterTogether #ExpertiseInAction #Multiengineering #Noengineersnofuture

“Rotterdam World Gateway terminal to provide #shorebasedpower for all vessels” Bojan Lepic - March 1, 2024 “Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) #containerterminal has decided to equip its entire #quayside with shore-based power for all #vessels .” “The RWG #terminal is already #fullyautomated and #co2neutral and the construction of shore-based power facilities will mean the ships will also no longer emit #particulates , #nitrogen and #co2 when at #berth . These facilities will also reduce #noisepollution .” “The first berths are expected to be equipped with shore-based power from 2026 onwards which will put RWG ahead of European regulation, which stipulates that all container, passenger, and cruise #ships larger than 5,000 dwt must use shore-based power by 2030 in European ports. RWG stated that it would be designing, financing, and building the shore-based power systems itself.” “The Port of Rotterdam Authority and RWG have signed a letter of intent that includes agreements to share knowledge and data concerning the construction and use of shore-based power and the necessary #civilengineering works to #quaywalls and #fenders that this requires.” “”We are very pleased with RWG’s decision to invest as the first European #deepseaterminaloperator in shore-based power. This represents a further contribution to greater #sustainability of the #supplychain that runs through Rotterdam for the clients we share,” said Boudewijn Siemons, CEO and interim COO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.” https://lnkd.in/g3NFU5Y3? At 18 kilometers (11 miles) below the Baltic Sea, the Fehmarnbelt (Camping Fehmarnbelt) Tunnel, which is presently under construction, will be the longest immersed tunnel in the world. This engineering marvel, which connects Denmark and Germany, will shorten travel times between the two nations and provide a rapid substitute for ferries and drawn-out detours. The tunnel is made up of enormous prefabricated parts that are joined end to end and submerged in a seabed trench for both road and rail transportation. After it is finished, the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel will be remembered as a major feat of global infrastructure that has improved transport and trade between Northern Europe and other countries. #FehmarnbeltTunnel #EngineeringMarvel #ImmersedTunnel #GlobalInfrastructure #DenmarkGermanyConnection #CivilEngineering #TunnelConstruction #TransportInnovation #SustainableTravel #northerneurope

Across the world, #navalarchitects are rediscovering the enabling power of #efficiency in marine #electrification projects. In this article, an Argentina project to build 175 #electricferries has chosen composite materials as one of their foundational technologies. At EV Maritime we follow facts, not fashion. We openly consider both aluminium and composite materials. For our fast projects to date, composite has always been the clear winner: not just better, but necessary to achieve project objectives. https://lnkd.in/g5hWZz_g
