What are you doing this weekend? I have a suggestion — take a few minutes to nominate someone you think is great at marketing! ✅ They don’t have to be a traditional marketer or the biggest name in the industry either (although if you admire one, nominate!). ✅ Were focused on people who knows how to flex marketing strategy and tools to make an impact — revenue-wise, buyer-wise or just for the good of it! ✅ Fame isn’t just about years of service but what you did with the years you worked! Who in your network fits the bill! Is it you? Yes — you can nominate yourself too! The deadline is coming up so think fast and get to typing! Nominate here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eq2aDNep #AMANewYork #MarketingHallofFame #Marketing

There is Something about Mary. I encourage you to listen to her 3-minute acceptance speech - to me, it embodies extraordinary leadership. On Friday night, at the Canadian Marketing Association's sold-out Awards Gala, Mary DePaoli was honoured with their 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. In true Mary fashion, she uses her time to thank others. I first met Mary in 2007 at a lunch organized by the late Christopher Loudon. What was supposed to be an hour turned into an afternoon, and we talked more about our families, lives and dreams for a better world for all than marketing. As it turns out, that wasn't the exception; that is how Mary approaches life. Mary deeply cares about her family, team, partners, and humanity. Even RBC's flagship programs—their recent sponsorship of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, the PGA TOUR, the Olympics, the Toronto International Film Festival, and more—always include significant investments to ensure that those who deserve a chance, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or income, have an opportunity to own their podium and chase their dreams. Does marketing matter? Under Mary's stewardship, Kantar has recognized RBC as Canada's Most Valuable Brand for the sixth year. RBC is also the eighth most valuable financial services brand globally. I am honoured to know her as a friend. Mary DePaoli. You truly matter. And… A big shout out to Alison Simpson and the Canadian Marketing Association for all you do to elevate the craft of marketing in Canada, and a standing ovation to all the award winners. Meaningful work is the essence of our industry. It means it matters. It is significant, relevant, material, telling, weighty, and worthwhile. It makes the audience think, feel, and act. It drives market share and feeds the salaries of the brand's employees and everyone within the supply chain. The opposite is inconsequential. It doesn't matter. For over a decade, even longer, I have challenged the advertising agency's obsession with chasing glass. Here is an article from 2014, as I am leaving the advertising world, with a call out to clients and advertisers. https://lnkd.in/d8n9Y8vY I have always said that this sector would be revered if even half the time and money their internal teams invested in competing for the thousands of gold awards were diverted to solving society's biggest problems. They would have clients banging on the door and looking for real solutions. Many associations and magazines depend on profits from awards shows, but a healthier industry would lead to healthier businesses. In my upcoming interview with Frank Palmer for the American Marketing Association (AMA), Toronto, he voiced a similar sentiment. in a few seconds, Zulu Alpha Kilo Inc., in this brilliant parody, said what I had felt for years. Enough is enough. Please take a look at this fantastic ad and share it. Now, let's get the top minds of their agencies focused on affordable housing, the growing social divide, keeping young males in schools, donating organs, eliminating food waste, and so much more. Those working on these initiatives will feel much better by improving our world. The owners of agencies can move the millions they spend into hiring and training staff. And for the brilliant creative talent in Canada, is this not the purposeful work you got into the industry for, the work that truly matters? Proud to be part of the team and to continue aiming to Greater things. Connecting all local businesses to the right audience by placing them in the middle of it. Not exposing, not aiming with percentage, not covering a large spectrum hoping it hits the right audience somehow. I will put you right on their hands guaranteed they will see you (multiple times if I’m being over-confident) with a fraction of what other “Advertising” businesses charge you. So if you are a business owner in the area or if you know of someone that is, allow me to take you on a very short tour to show you what we do, how we do it and how you can be part of it. I’ll make 3 promises right now: 1. I won’t take more than 30 mins of your time. 2. I will be kicking in at least one discount and up to a max of 3 discounts. 3. I’m buying Coffee ☕️ 📱 702-400-4847 to get into the “MacDonalds Ranch & Highlands Neighbors” Magazine.
