Here are some key elements: Give your full attention: Make eye contact and avoid distractions. Listen to understand: Focus on grasping the speaker's message and meaning, not just the words themselves. Engage with the speaker: Ask clarifying questions and summarize what you've heard to ensure understanding. By actively listening, you show the speaker you value their thoughts and feelings, fostering stronger relationships and communication.

I truly agree. You must make the time to be available to hear your teams concerns. Once agreeing to have the conversation you must be all present. Never assume you know what the team members are going to discuss. I love this. This holds true when working with any team, professionally or personally, in your life. Being able to “slow things down” enough to be an active, caring listener is essential. I had an amazing conversation in the car with my 15 year old daughter last week that happened so naturally. I knew it was special, and really took the time to listen to her. These are moments where you need to trust your instincts and know that listening is the most important thing you can do at that moment. Everything else can wait.
