Wealth building is a key area of focus for the Latino Partnership Program of Oregon Community Foundation. How can Latino/x communities move beyond resilience and into a phase of community development where people can thrive? That was the central question of the two-day Conexiones summit that LPP organized recently in Lincoln City. The theme was Adelante (forward): Comunidad, Prosperidad, Poder (community, prosperity, power). As we mark Hispanic Heritage Month, we revisit responses we gathered to the questions, What does wealth look like? What does it feel like?

We are thankful to Tsungai Muvingi for her latest piece as part of our community writers project. The Ripple Effect: How Peace in Families Creates Peace in Communities, explores the profound connection between peace at home and peace in the wider world. Tsungai’s piece casts a light onto a vital but often overlooked aspect of peace: the role of families. As she emphasizes, it’s easy to focus on global issues, yet peace begins at home, with individuals and families. Peaceful family environments create a ripple effect, promoting values like empathy, communication, and respect—values that extend far beyond our front doors. In a multicultural place like Manitoba, these principles resonate strongly. Families that practice acceptance, kindness, and understanding help foster more inclusive and unified communities. By nurturing peace within our homes, we contribute to a more vibrant and resilient society, one that mirrors Canada’s values of diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect. Tsungai leaves us some thought provoking questions at the end of her story, and we welcome you to reflect on them, and/or to share your thoughts and reflections with us. https://lnkd.in/eXawVarx #FamilyPeace #CommunityBuilding #RippleEffect #Inclusion #CanadianValues #BuildingBridges #PeaceBuilding
