Home Sea UK defence spending in Scotland reaches over £2bn. Defence spending with UK industry by the Ministry of Defence in Scotland is currently £2.09 billion, official statistics have revealed. An average of £380 is being spent on defence for each person living in Scotland, higher that the UK average of £370, with this figure staying consistent in recent years. Latest figures also show 12,200 Scottish jobs are directly supported through the MOD’s expenditure with the Scottish defence industry. https://lnkd.in/dQhQX6-M

China expanding its influence in Maldives by establishing a military training team as well as getting into a free trade agreement as well as infrastructure development projects free of cost. An extremely worrying development for India. We need to augment our capabilities in the Indian Ocean region and Arabian Sea to counterbalance the situation. The ADM Congress, held in Canberra on 21 February, evaluated the Australian Defence Force’s future capability requirements with regards to solidifying supply chains, developing and sustaining a high skilled workforce and developing an internationally competitive sovereign Defence industry. A key takeaway from Congress is that Defence is undergoing a massive transition and, if it is to meet its major program commitments, needs to develop a highly skilled workforce and sustain an internationally competitive sovereign defence industry. To develop the workforce and sustain defence industry, Defence and governments at all levels need to: 👉 Build capability which will require growth in people and skills 👉 Collaborate at all levels to increase standards of execution 👉 Partner with and develop supply chains that provides resilience 👉 Embrace technology to foster innovation while ensuring security 👉 Make it easy (beyond just possible) for industry to participate 👉 Provide certainty in the pipeline of opportunity to drive investment As industry leaders reflect on the ADM Congress, it is an opportunity to recognise that the human dimension – the skills, expertise, and collaborative spirit – will shape the trajectory of Defence and its legacy. #Defence #DefenceIndustry #Australia
