We whole-heartedly agree with this and make it our priority to upskill the children we work with in one-to-one sessions and in our school programmes to develop their emotional intelligence. Children and young people need to recognise emotions in themselves and others and develop the language to express how they are feeling before we can begin to teach them to regulate and manage their emotional well-being.
How do we support children and young people to regulate when they are out their window of tolerance? They need time in with an emotionally available adult not time out! We need to help them understand what they are feeling and find the words for it, they need to feel understood, and they need empathy. #TraumaInformed #TISUK #MentalHealth #Regulate
