Today I had my 100th academic output was reported on my Aston profile. The most recent publication was led by Negin Gholampoor along with Amir Hossein Sharif a final year medical student and recent graduate doctor from Aston Medical School. So, these two are the real reason I am celebrating today. It is great to develop ideas and publications with others, especially those at the start of their careers. Here is a link the in print version of our paper exploring the effect of faith based fasting on cardiometabolic risk factors. https://lnkd.in/expNkkGT

Success can be planned. Don't get caught up in politics. In Germany, the numerus clausus should only be available for 1 year when studying human medicine. And it still exists! Therefore, not all specialist training positions are filled in Germany. In addition, in Germany you are a recognized doctor after your studies and not, as in many countries, still a registered student at the university. Valuable years that you shouldn't just ignore. If you know exactly what you want, focus on it until you solve your problem! In the end, you gain time and energy. Believe in yourself and celebrate your successes - preferably together with friends :) Have a nice day:) 👨⚕️ 👩⚕️ #CareMP2 #Successthroughfurthertraining

I'm excited to share that I've successfully completed the "Health Concepts in Chinese Medicine" course offered by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology via Coursera! 🌟 This course provided me with deep insights into the principles and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I learned about the foundational concepts such as Yin and Yang, Qi (vital energy), and the Five Elements Theory, all of which play a crucial role in maintaining balance and health in the human body. Understanding these ancient yet still relevant concepts has broadened my perspective on holistic health approaches, especially in how they can complement modern medical practices. I'm eager to integrate this knowledge into my work and continue exploring the benefits of TCM in promoting well-being.

Understanding what a cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) is and knowing how to apply it is a valuable skill for PhD students who do their research in the public health field. In the PHS course - Health Economic Analyses of Single Health Interventions - that takes place this week, participants learn about different types of CEA and models, what information is needed to perform it and possible sources to obtain the information, as well as how to apply the basic concept of CEA to their research questions. This course is part of the structured comprehensive #publichealth Sciences Course Program of the University of Bern for PhD students that aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of Public Health and develop competencies in key research methods and applications. For more information about the PHS Course Program and single courses, please visit: www.medizin.unibe.ch/phs.

Some good news to share this month: 1. I successfully passed my PhD "confirmation" process, officially approving my thesis proposal, becoming a doctoral candidate in health economics. My research to develop for the next few years focuses on identifying post-pandemic drivers of the demand for telemedicine consultations (video and phone calls), with an emphasis on patient's behavioral aspects, technology adoption, and demand/supply interactions. 2. I won the 3-Minute Thesis competition at the Newcastle Business School by pitching my thesis proposal in just three minutes. This allows me to compete at the University level in August. "Little things are coming", as they say in my country.
