🩸🩸Join the NBSZ and Alliance Health in Harare and Bulawayo this Friday 12 July 2024 🩸🩸 One pint of blood could save up to 3 lives! If you're new to donating blood, and feeling a bit apprehensive, that's ok, lots of people feel the same way, but it's often much less scary than people expect! A lot of people are apprehensive about needles, and that's totally normal. The good news is the needles used for blood donation are very thin and sharp, designed to minimize discomfort. The actual donation typically only takes around 10-15 minutes. The trained staff are experienced and skilled at making the donation process smooth and comfortable. They can answer any questions you have and will guide you through each step. If needles make you squeamish, look away. Bring a stress ball to squeeze, listen to music, or chat with the staff to distract yourself.. Join us this Friday any time between 08:30 and 15:30 and be a lifeline for those in need: Alliance Health, 7 Fleetwood Road, Alex Park, Harare Alliance Health, 7 Oak Avenue, Suburbs, Bulawayo #AllianceHealth #NBSZ #DonateBlood #SaveLife #BloodDrive #DonateLife #BloodSavesLives #BloodDonationMatters #BloodDonationAwareness

Donating #blood isn't just about giving it's about creating a #healthieryou and a #healthierAfrica. It improves heart health by reducing iron levels, which can benefit cardiovascular health. By lowering iron levels, blood donation may even help reduce the risk of certain cancers, though there’s no hard evidence yet. Beyond the physical benefits, giving blood brings a deep sense of fulfilment, knowing your donation can save lives. It also supports community health by ensuring hospitals have the blood they need for emergencies. Plus, regular donations help you stay on top of your own blood health. Become part of the solution for Africa today. #DonateBloodAfrica #SaveLives #HealthyHeartsHealthyAfrica #BloodDonationMatters #GiveBloodSaveLives #StrongerCommunities #HealthForAll #AfricaBloodDonors

Did you know that a 20-second hug can reduce stress? Physical touch can increase our connection to one another and can lower feelings of anxiety and depression. But what if you could no longer hug or hold the hands of your loved ones? For many people with leprosy, this is a reality. In many places, people still believe that simply touching someone with leprosy will cause them to contract the disease as well. This is not true. However, this lingering stigma isolates many people with leprosy from loved ones, cutting them off from meaningful touch. This makes an already-difficult illness even more stressful and lonely. We can stop this through more awareness, training, and access to healthcare that can diagnose and treat this illness early. This is what we are dedicated to achieving along with our partners. By donating, you can help fund training, awareness initiatives, and screenings that will help restore connection and community for people struggling with leprosy. Donate today at effecthope.org/donate #EffectHope #20SecondHug #LeprosyFacts #LeprosyExperience #ChangeLivesByDonating

Today, as I passed this impactful advertisement from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, it made me realize just how crucial it is to raise awareness for conditions like cystic fibrosis. The message, "We won't stop until everyone with cystic fibrosis can live a life unlimited," is a powerful reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by those affected and the relentless efforts needed to support and eventually cure this life-limiting disease. As someone who believes in the power of healthcare advancements and community support, I feel it's vital we all contribute to this cause. Whether through spreading the word, donating, or volunteering, every action counts towards building a better future for those dealing with cystic fibrosis. 💛💛 #CysticFibrosis #HealthAwareness #CommunitySupport #MakeADifference

Apart from sharing information and resources, I haven't really shared my own experience on here of living with Crohn's Disease. Imagine living with a lifelong condition that many people have never heard of. That’s the reality for myself and over 500,000 people in the UK living with Crohn’s and Colitis. These conditions are debilitating and can have a profound impact on a person’s life. In June, I will be taking part in the My Walk It 2024 fundraising challenge for Crohn's & Colitis UK. Fundraising is essential for the charity to support the estimated 500,000 people in the UK who are living with Crohn’s or Colitis. The money raised will help to provide high-quality information and support for those in need through Helpline services, campaigns for better health services and improved lives for people with Crohn’s and Colitis and funds vital research into treatments for the conditions. I would be so grateful if people would chevk out the link below if they are in a position to donate. Any amount will make a huge difference. Or even just a share of my Just Giving page, which I will be keeping updated once the challenge begins in June. https://lnkd.in/eYxyn3Kd #crohnsawareness #crohnsandcolitis #crohnsdisease #ulcerativecollitis #ibd #inflammatoryboweldisease
